Hello everyone and welcome to my second project LOG on OverclockersUK
Originally based on the mythical hammer - MJOLNIR

This project has been on my mind for a while now, even before my iron man build ever came along.
When be quiet announced their new case window at taipei, i was eager to get my hands on one and get started!

So. lets start with the sponsors
be_quiet_logo.png

be quiet! have sent out the following
Dark Power Pro 11 80+ Platinum 1000w Power Supply
Silent Base 800 Window Edition Case (Released today july 15th at 3pm)
be quiet range here

Avexir_logo_large.png

Avexir have sent out
Avexir Raiden Series DDR3 RAM
Avexir range here
ac_quad_w.gif

Aqua Computer sent out the kyrographics Titan X Waterblock for this build.
Wanted something shiny! they provided it :)

Other sponsors have sent out (whom i cannot mention on here)
ASUS Limited Edition Sabertooth Z97 Mark S Motherboard
Raijintek Triton 240mm AIO Cooler

The boxes picture (Some of them)

The idea behind this project was originally to hydrodip the whole case in a lightning blue design, however when it came to dipping, the metal casing reacted through the paint primer.
There was also due to be a hardline watercooling system in the case, however the be quiet silent base 800 has very little watercooling support.
Infact, you can only use one slim 240mm on the top.

So the result was a partly dipped, blue and white case mod with some extra mods still in the works

Let's start with the pictures of the case

I then removed the HDD Trays

The motherboard came in next which was a surprise to me, i didn't expect to get one of these from my sponsor, however they put a smile on my face as i love armored motherboards.

Put the motherboard into the case and it gave me an idea if where i can go with this project:
11717503_890938774288523_2690280029765855441_o.jpg

The hydrographics i planned to use is this
11218490_890938334288567_2303759892841661529_o.jpg

After the hydrographics failing to take to anything metal under any primercoat, i decided to go with UV lights and a nice blue
So i bought this for the tubing
10481124_890938830955184_5569348004274474659_o.jpg

i then worked this onto the raijintek triton cooler and primed the case for painting and put a toy hammer on the top!
11722101_890938787621855_7426657881725056177_o.jpg

I kind of liked the toy hammer, so i've ordered in a large lifesize thor hammer replica movie prop.
Pretty costly, but worth it.
This in turn led me to the name ''TUF Blue'' So TUF that even a big hammer can't dent it. lol

The window for the build arrived next so i primed it and slapped it on the case to see what we have

11113007_890938827621851_4277540371476394597_o.jpg

Not too bad, i kind of like the window, really does stand out, and shockingly the double glazed window actually pays off.
I can't even hear the fans or the pump.

Anyway time to strip it all appart and get to work
11695728_890937487621985_1572436797186665045_n.jpg

Far too many screws and thumb screws on this case haha

Hydrodipped the first plastic piece
11713794_890937580955309_1442461680621663251_o.jpg

Turned out okay, just needs rinsed off and it'll look perfect

Painted the motherboard armor in blue and then top coated with a glow in the dark blue finish
11091007_890937490955318_8359553894799223256_o.jpg

Painted board and partly hydrodipped base and legs.
The base was later rubbed down and the legs were left hydrodipped.
11144935_890937614288639_8859717097382084732_o.jpg

Started work on the internals, UV light, UV Coil, Cable management etc etc
11741167_890937684288632_1837079506038981521_o.jpg

Would be nice to point out that there is a lack of management availability, however if you can squeeze it, it all fits behind the motherboard

Second layer of paint on and showing off that hydrodipping

11728882_890937707621963_1445673579168153892_o.jpg

Third layer of paint now

11713709_890937814288619_4813048841907663602_o.jpg

11717508_890937860955281_5740736982052021896_o.jpg

Added some decals to see what i can do with the outside
11062785_890937954288605_1014490718148349140_o.jpg

11722548_890938017621932_3768942806798608721_o.jpg

Decided that the inside cannot be left black, it looks like i've done nothing special.
So... after 2 days of painting (slowly) it got done

So here's where i'm at today july 15th 3pm.
11038924_890958020953265_5147767626468956069_n.jpg

I'm now waiting for the following to arrive
Replica hammer from the movie Thor
White Acrylic sheets (for the PSU Shroud)
Blue translucent acrylic sheets (for the cut out window in the shroud)

Would like to note, the picture of the 3 cases, i forgot to take a picture of just the one build, so you'll see white card at the base of the new project, this will be replaced with a solid white Shroud for looks and cable management.
Cut outs will be made for GPU cable (like the NZXT) USB, HDAudio etc at the back
A small window on the front so you can see the power supply badge and name
and then finally ''be quiet'' cut out of the front and backlit.

Other things that need to happen
T-Cut everything, re-spray, t-cut again and then apply a clear hard coat.
I really like the look of case now in blue, the pictures seem to make it purple color, however can assure it's very much blue.

Cut hole out of the top of the case, place new replica hammer in a little so it stands right.

Cut and design lightning decals coming from the hammer down the side of the case.

I'll need to see if i can cut into the front of the case and fit a radiator in there, as it's a slight disappointment that the case doesn't support one there.

For the time being the project doesn't look too great, however in a couple of weeks that will all change, i have plans people, i have plans!
Let's just hope these plans work!
I'll update as i go.

Just litterally got off the phone with HugosLTD the makers of the hydro graphics.
They believe that there may have been a fault with their film.
So are sending me another 5m of the stuff.
So all is not lost yet, i may be able to hydro dip the whole case in the end.
Fingers are crossed.

Shame about the hydro film, hope it works out better with the new stuff. I am jealous as I've always loved the Mark S board.

Yea me too, it took me near a whole say to remove the graphics. Once it's on it's a bloody nightmare to get off.
hopefully it'll work this time.
i was really surprised they sent me the mark S, i just asked for a motherboard suitable for the build.

Damn, lol, you sure the case will take the weight! It's an epic build for sure mate. Hammer time!! (someone was going to say it...)

How did second attempt go mate? Fingers crossed...

not good at all.
Checked the water temps, showed at 24c which is perfect, dipped at a 40 degree angle, slowly after activating the film and it went all wrong again.
Works perfect on smaller parts though, anything bigger than 20cm seems to fail.

Luckily i tested it on a bitfenix neos case which is crap anyway.
I'll upload pictures of the disaster parts tonight.

Good news is the legs have been re-dipped and turned out perfect this time around.

Sounds like a right pain in the ++++

Making a mental not never to try it

I'm back in talks with the company, the problem i'm having with larger pieces is the film separates too quickly after activation. Almost instantly.
i will try again tonight see if a raised or lowered temperature helps.

I'm not. Other than hot and cold tap and mixing it all up then using a thermometer.
Checked after dip and it was the same or 1c lower. As long as it's between 20-28c then it's perfect temps for dipping. (According to the company anyway)

Run down for anyone who wants to hydro dip

First of all make sure you've got the right colour of base coat, there are clear parts in the film, for example im using lightning, so i used a blue base coat for the blue bolts.
Fill the sink or bath tub (depending on the size of the item) and get the temps to around 28c
11201186_892003324182068_6015513423446292985_n.jpg

Cut the film a little larger than the item you want to dip and mask all the edges.
11760296_892003344182066_4805226615183612757_n.jpg

Place the film in the sink or bath tub and allow to soak for 2 minutes (120 seconds)
Please note: shiney side down (dull side up)
11755770_892003364182064_7871349453156414012_n.jpg

(Spray the activator at this stage evenly until the film gives off a glass look

Get your part and slowly dip the part in the middle at a 40-45c angle
11666289_892003380848729_4959255422522651968_n.jpg

Once it's dipped, swirl it around under the water and remove all the debrie from the top of the water then pull it out. It'll be all gooey and horrible
11709681_892003400848727_9075271210630431416_n.jpg

Time to rinse all that goo off, (just leftover activator) rinse for 5 minutes and make sure all the goo is off
11709647_892003414182059_4188311432633011793_n.jpg

then leave it out to dry.
Once dry you can apply a clear coat or leave it as it is.

Here's a couple of fails due to water temps being too high
10984619_704301679674118_9185545986796155990_n.jpg

Notice it dissapated a little and bubbled.
Although it looks cool and all, it's not finish worthy.
