First off apologies to anyone that i offended in the "Jeremy kyle" thread in the off topic section, but i would just love to punch him but i hope you get my sorrys for saying it, i know i pushed it abit fair.

anyway as title iam starting my first proper build as my current rig was half built for me, and really a place to post a blog on how things are getting on for me and possiable pick up any tips/tricks on the way or even help a few people on the way.

for anyone who really wants know iam basicly a 18 year old student, dresses like chav, lives in the stoke area with no job and pretty much the whole build is funded from my Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA):)

well to the build...

i started out specing up and gathering Info on different components (MB,CPU,case etc etc....) and came up with the following

Motherboard: Asus P5KC (bought)
CPU: Intel Q6600
Cooler: Artic cooler 7...
RAM: OCZ PC2-6400 duel channel Platinum (bought 4GB)
HDD: Unknown still looking up info
dvd drive: Unknown
Power supply: Corsair HX 620W or Corsair HX 520W
Case: Antec P182
Graphics card: not top of my list but 8800 GTS is looking tempting
OS: Vista Ultimate 68bit or XP 64bit

this was a present for Xmas from the parents and i tell you what i was pleased ;)

the space when i opened her up i was like WOW you could a small party in there but just the feel of the case was just quality all over in my opinion. (thanks you Overclockers) unlike previous cases i worked on at work experience etc.. and sharp edges......what sharp edges there isn't any:D

few weeks at college before Christmas i collected the penny's and placed a order again online with the best genuine PC store closest to me (overclockers)

So far as you can tell nothing has really moved on a lot installed the ram and thats about it chances are a visit to OC to collect a few parts late tomorrow afternoon and a few updates might be up to look at

Best regards

well today quick visit into overclockers and i must say DAM! that place is always busy
anyway today's goodies that ive bagged with my card empty also with paying the farther back. (HDD isn't in the photo )

i have to admit don't you love special offers

after about 2 hours ive got to this point and with sore fingers after installing the freezer ive packed up for the night sadly

once again another thanks to Overclockers:D:cool:

with the determination to get it finished tonight and booted up i made the biggest balls up....after buying the P5KC board i didn't think that's there port for the monitor *Doh!*.

well moving on i got the power supply in a treat with no effort what so ever, as i read else where that people couldn't get the cage over PSU but was was a doddle...

few snaps below so you can see where iam up too in the build

cables abit messy but a will tidy them when things are rocking and rolling.

Few question if anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction?

1.) anyone advise me on a good all round all in one burner and reader that will work with Vista 64bit... i was going steal the one that i have in now but cant seam to find any drivers for it online and with a few people in different forums also having problems with it

2.) Secondly what connector or converter do i need to power the fans that in the p182 Case and how have you guys connected them as ive looked around and people have done in it in a few different ways like below:

PC1.jpg

in this one the person has used the "Y" connector that comes with the PSU..but this has confused me what connector is used to power the fans or in that case how is it power or has it being connected to the PSU if it has.

the second example ive seen is where some one has connected all the fans and stacked them together....but the same question how is it connected to the PSU or is there converter cable to be used (if so any links please)
Best regards

because he`s a student and gets x amount per week and bonus depending on work or targets done (lazy git ) in other words :):)

it also goes down on what my parents earn also but up until June i wont get it as i will be 19 then.

£30 a week and £100 bonuses so it does add up, to be honest if i entitled to get EMA why the hell not :p, just put it this way if you were a student and entitled would you go for it....?

ema is awesome, until your mum and dad work a few more hours then get like £1 over whatever the limit is :(

When your 19 you should get ALG - Adults Learning Grant. £30 a week as your "technically" not dependant on your parents. But you do not get bonus's

But i thought, EMA you can still get when your 19? Check it up!
