God please don't let it be Microsoft...

Awesome looking vids though :D :D

better to be microsoft than EA...?
Don't see anything wrong with anything MS have done publishing wise.

Anyway, that technology are ammazling

mmmmm.... just another FPS offering very little, if anything, new.

Different graphics, different weapons but the same old tired, so very very tired gameplay.

Still if you like pretty graphics and spending fortunes on graphics cards to run a boring FPS, who's pretty graphics YOU DON'T notice after the first "ooohh, ahhhh!!" then this is for you.

Cheers,

So........

A) You've played it
B) You've actually seen videos we haven't (other than tech demos available)
c) You know what type of game it'll end up being?

Nope but I have trawled the website and there's nothing on gameplay but plenty on graphics and graphical tecvhnolgies.

Which means the focus is 100% on graphics, gameplay will be an afterthought and you'll all be moaning that it's buggy as hell and virtually unplayable when it finally comes out.

We shall wait and see!!

Err, no, 'we' shall.. youve already made up your mind clearly..

Although, the video said the first Fantasy FPS.. isnt Oblivion and Morrowind fantasy fps?

to be quite honest, i saw this vid a few months ago and watching it all again it really doesn't look that special.

yes, it's got effects, but nothing i won't be expecting in the next year. during 2007 i'd expect this game to look pretty average.

all the animation i saw was scripted, and there wasn't a huge amount happening on screen.

so they show us a couple of extremely high poly models. doesn't amaze me at all.

when i see some actual gameplay from them, and they employ their engine more realistically i'll take more interest.

something like Crysis gets far more attention from me.

mmmm had a look at Crysis and I have to admit that some things in there, advanced physics and deformable landscaoe has go me interested.

My one MAJOR gripe with FPS, as you probably noticed, is that devs seem to put way, way too much time and effort into the graphic models/meshes/textures/lighting etc and seeming very little in to gameplay and effects. It almost seems that realism, in their minds, is limited to merely "looking real" Sorry guys, you need to think again, get/give yourselves an edge, have you seen the amount of FPSs in developemt at the mo'?

Before anyone goes ballistic on me, think on this, from a non-graphical point of view whats the difference between multiplayer Doom3, Quake4, Arena200x, CoD2? Different weapons and effects? Yes, that's two? So why don't the devs focus on more on these rather than blowing their resources on pretty textures and complex models/meshes that I can hosestly say mean less than nothing in fast action games.

Even FSAA, is that REALLY necessary in a fast action game?
These are nice on adventures like Myst etc, where you can take your time and really appreciate the time and effort that went in to the models/meshes/textures etc.

Can anyone else understand what I am saying here?

One last thing that drives me completely insane is the distance fog. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. In this day and age of advanced CPU. GPU and now physics processors why do we still have distance fog?

Cheers,

How the **** can you say they are just concentrating on graphics? Most of the current demos are literally just tech demos. Jeez dude wakeup :/

The thing is they aren't high poly. The whole point of them showing their engine - is to show how good their models look without an insanely large poly count.

yeh, it's not just showing off high poly models - it's also the rather impressive dynamic lighting in expansive environments, and shadowing and motion blur applied to every model and particle individually. Given that the relace date could be well over a year off it's unfair to say they are only focusing on graphics.

Actually if you read the website there not even that high poly charactors.... there engine can scale it right down so its in the thousands and still look like the original that consist of millions of polys :)

They said gameplay wise there trying to aim for something totaly different not quite Heretic but almost with the Fantasty/Mystery fps element.... ok so we had a few but then none look like this.

I think there MP info sounds very good, its basicly conquest mode but man that would be cool to see Dwarfs/Elves and Heroes attacking a Castle together;)

But I do agree on a few things said, the graphics/gameplay may look Average after Crysis/Next Unreal-UT2007 appear cos those games have similar potential both graphicaly/gameplay wise.

gameplay > graphics

id rather have a game thats fun to play than stunning visuals and a system hog that only a few can really appreciate.
but i wont make a judgement on one until ive tried and tested it.

Looks somewhat reminiscent of the early visions of Quake. Graphically whilst impressive, I wouldn't say it was necessarily superior to Crysis, from what I've seen so far though.

It just looks nice n fluid. Sometimes i do get naffed off with the fact that games, environments, general stuff, just doesnt flow. splinter cells movements when that first came out was v nice.
