Hello and welcome to my project log.

Due to work and kids it won't be the quickest build log but I will do my best.

The name has come about due to the combination of old and new stuff used in the build, the old stuff being case, monitor and mouse, everything else will be new.

The computer will be used for some gaming but lots of photo editing and video editing.

So lets list the parts.

Case: Coolermaster Cosmos S - Already have this and it will be modded slightly.

Mobo: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme - Got.

CPU: Core i7 3930K - Got.

Graphics Card: EVGA GTX580 3Gb - Got.

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16Gb - Got

SSD: Crucial M4 128Gb - Got

HDD: 2 x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - Got

PSU: OCZ 1250W Gold PSU - Got

Cooling

I will be water cooling the CPU and Gfx cards using one loop.

RAD: XSPC RX360 - Got

Pump: Laing 18W DDC-1T - Got

CPU Block: Swiftech Apogee GTX - Got but may change.

Gfx Block: EK FC580 GTX+ Full Cover Waterblock - Nickel Plexi - Waiting on delivery.

Fans: Xilence XPF120R Red Wing's - Got.

Res: XSPC single bay res - Got

Fluid: Mayhems Aurora -Tharsis Red - Got

Fan Controller:Lamptron FC5 V2 - Waiting for stock

It's not going to be the most challenging build but it is my first build log so go easy, I will post pics of all the parts when I receive the rest of the goodies.

I hope to start modding the case later today, this will involve taking it all apart and painting the internals black and removing the mesh side panel and making a plexi one.

The overall theme of the build will be black and red to match the mobo.

Thanks for looking.

Right first job was to mod the side panel so that the standard mesh and fan is replaced with a perspex one.

Mesh and fan removed.

Next up, measuring up the perspex and cutting to size.

New side panel finished.

Just needs a quick clean up and thats the first mod done.

Right, so this afternoon I started daisy chaining one set of fans for the rad.

Here is what we started with.

Next, removed the molex/3 pin connectors off the fans and removed the yellow wires from 2 of them.

Next the fans were soldered together and the wires extended.

Finally, braided the wires and added the heatshrink, still another set to do for the other side of the rad.

Thanks for looking.

Quick update, the second set of fans have been completed for the rad, tonight I am going to start stripping down the case to paint the innards black, I will post some pics later.

Missed the delivery of my mobo today too so that should be here tomorrow now, will post a pic of what I have so far tomorrow once it has arrived.

Right so this morning I got on with stripping the case down for paint.

Here is the untouched Cosmos S

And a short time later stripped down ready for the internals to be painted black.

I still haven't decided if I am going to paint the grey plastic on the outside red to give the outside of the case a black and red theme.

And just for the record the dust on the front mesh grills isn't from use, its been stored for a good 12 months.
Will be posting pics of the kit I have so far later.

The reason I have removed the yellow wires from 2 of the fans is because the yellow wire provides rpm info, as the 3 fans are daisy chained together and will be run from one channel on a fan controller you only need rpm data from one fan as they will be all spinning at the same speed. Hope that explains. Thanks for looking.

Ok, small update, finished painting the interior of the case, still haven't decided if I am going to paint the outside yet and if I should paint the hard drive cage red or black. Thoughts??

Well here is the internals painted black. The pic doesn't really do it justice, the finish looks better in the flesh.

Here is a quick shot of some of the hardware going inside.

And the mobo

I never covered it in the original post but for fixtures and hose I will be using 7/16 hose over 1/2 inch barbs.

Fingers crossed my CPU arrives soon.

Thanks for looking.

Ok, small update, finally got the case finished, here are a few pics. The red is more like ROG red in the flesh, I need to play with the white balance on my camera to make the pics closer to the real thing.
