So my dad used to be a casual gamer 10+ years ago. then his work took him away from gaming due to working away most of the year.

Recently one of his old friends bought a new rig and he asked if i could reinstall windows etc. . so he could play the remastered age of empires. I decided it needed a few changes to play some modern games. He used to be a smoker which will be apparent in some of the pictures. The PC itself has only been used to print documents for last 9+ years of its life...

Rig
CPU i7 920
12gb corsair xms ddr3
EVGA 560ti 1gb
1.5tb Mechanical drive

New parts
Sapphire RX70
240gb Kingston SSD
New case.

i thoroughly enjoyed resurrecting the old girl..

Dare I ask the state of the CPU cooler? And what is the configuration of that 12 GB? I'm guessing 4x 2GB and 1x 4 GB.

2 GB and 4 GB DIMMs are not a lot second hand. Likewise an i7-965, which would give a nice speed bump.

I gave the cooler a clean, it wasn't half as bad as the hideous case fans. The case may have been used in a previous build, I honestly can't remember.

The ram configuration I didn't even check to be honest, I think it's actually more than 12gb but for whatever reason it only picks up on 12. I was looking at a i7 970 which the board takes,a well as another stick for that slot but I was already over £100 invested in it and I'm not even 100% sure he's going to use it much. If he does I'll certainly look into some more parts
