So, what a few people in the PR Dev team (as well as an outsider; Tema567) is working on at the moment, is unlocking some hardcoded stuff in PR. One of these things, is the elusive 64 player limit. Early private testing has proved very successful, with us being able to break the limit. The next logical step now, is public testing, to see if we can definitely confirm being able to reach 128 players.

This could well tempt me back. :)

I just cannot image it working though. Servers would have to have ping limits to make it enjoyable. Hope it comes off though!
 
This would be great if it works. An old favourite game of mine was the joint operations series from novalogic, 100+ players. Made for some epic battles.
 
I played this mod for quite a bit awhile back but ended up stop playing as it seemed impossible to find team players willing to have open squads for people to join. So you ended up making lone squads and get shouted at from people who have locked squads when you want to try get into a vehicle or try anything out.

That said, if you did find like minded players who were willing for people to join in then the game got pretty epic at times. Still felt like a very unwelcome community though.
 
I thought it was impossible for them to get to the hardcoded stuff without direct assistance and approval from EA? Hence the hundreds of locked threads on their forums about "fast roping" over the past few years...

Anything is possible :cool:




feasible in game is another matter, I dont think they'll use the full 128 but kudos to them for exploring whats possible
 
idea is good but I wouldnt be able to play this as my internet would have such an awful ping I would get kicked all the time! shame :(
 
Had a quick go, good and bad news. Bad is they couldnt get the 129th player to connect, server refused it.

Good news is it didnt crash, we just had a normal very active game with a map full of 128 players. If you know PR then you know it still wasnt crowded, just more as it should be with proper 8 player squads moving about, aerial support and base building, etc


Then they tested on another map and it crashed. I had no problem with lag. Some people said the fps dropped but they just need more power to process 100+ player models


Bad news - 64 players on a team and only 1 guy went medic :o


Seems like they can put this into the game to me, each map will probably need new test and adjustment for places to spawn, etc
 
Not really played since bc2 came out last easter, have they continued to add more content and features? I thought they were gonna stop developing the mod on the bf2 engine and move over to arma2 engine?
 
They doing both. Some models will port over I think. They have added a lot more, its pretty much a full game now hence 0.95.
I can remember 0.1 and it was not good, just the big dam and wandering around with a pistol only and rocket

Test still in progress. One guy says more then 128 not possible due to variable limits which might be true. I seem to remember having to define a data register as having a maximum length possible.


Im ok with 128 personally, I never played the original opflash or whatever it was with that many. 256 would require MPs to police so many
