As the name suggests it makes the game much more realistic with little remaining the same as the normal game. The D/L is close to 2Gb showing how much is different. All new maps, weapons, vehicles, classes, factions, aircraft. Impoved graphics and massive emphasis on teamwork

Far bigger maps than any other fps game I've ever known. And yes, proper tactics.

I've been in the USA for 6 weeks and playing COD4 since I got back but with 0.7 release I'll be back playing some PR no doubt!

I play as ODS_Isaac_Cox and played on Thors and Igi the most but generally it's a case of finding one with enough players and I choose that

You need both Core and map downloads

Sounds like the mod is perfect for you then, since it is unranked and you get all the weapons you need from the start, if my memory serves me well

You get access to all of the weapons but several kits are limited e.g. only 2 snipers on a team. Snipers are deadly in PR, you get powerful guns and huge zoom.

I've been playing since 0.5, and I have to say - this is the toughest PR I've played. The learning curve for n00bs is really harsh since they removed the minimap for infantry. Still, it'll seperate the men from the boys I guess. And, I'll say it now for the people new to PR, before you play make sure you read and *understand* the playing guides, and make sure you have VOIP.

I agree with all of that. Especially the advice at the end. You have to understand how it works before just diving in. Otherwise you'll not know what to do, how things work and get frustrated real fast.
Also don't bother with the mod if the idea of playing a 45 minute round and getting less than 10 kills doesn't appeal. It can happen.

That said you can get a great buzz from your squad of 6 working well together, communicating well and the team getting victory.

this is the first few days i have played this , kept dying and getting frustrated that i couldnt shoot anyone , but i am still thinking along the lines of cod4 etc , and am begining to understand that its best to take 5 or 10 ten mins sometimes to plan an attack on an enemy position , the problem is i dont have a voip headset at the moment , and i feel i am missing out on half the experiance, on a note , i was playing tactical gamer server , and i got kicked for haing a negative score ? , and now everytime i try and log on it says i got kicked for exsisive team kills or kick vote? i want to get a voip headset and join a clan , does any one want me does ocuk have a clan for pr?

You're getting the idea I think.
If you don't have a headset or mic, make sure your have VOIP on so you can hear your squad leader (If he's not talking, find another squad). Plus mic cost £5.
You were probably auto banned. Either it will be a temp ban and you'll be back on soon or you could find the website of the clan and ask them to unban you

Played this game this morning.. took a while but finally getting used to it... You need to be ina good team to make it work.. I killed 2 people in an hour of play!

Just downloaded the core, now onto the levels. Was playing vanilla BF2 last night, really enjoyed it but the amount of dolphin diving did my head in, going to try and persuade some mates to download aswell.

Well with PR you can sprint for ages but only jump about 3 times before losing all your sprint bar and you can't shoot the millsecond you land on the floor meaning bunnyhopping and dolphin diving do pointless.
But as said above, you be getting far less kills

lots of players are very conservative in there gameplay due to the realism so its often easy to flank them and rack up a lot of kills.

I can be like that, I just got off playing a fantastic round in Zatar Wetlands (never played it before on PR). I got about 8 kills be twice flanking the same squad up on a hill.

With how easy it is to die and the longer spawn time many people lay-low, as you kinda should do

Played this for an hour earlier... Flanked the enemy and took all 4 out on the roof top! Was well chuffed

And when i was a medic i couldnt heal anyone? Stupid?!

You've gotta stand real close to them and click and hold fire. It's to make it like you only give medical attention to one person at a time.

Everytime i try and connect to a server i get kicked to desktop! Anyone know a fix?

Kicked from server or crash to desktop? Visit www.evenbalance.com and update punkbuster for a start. Also, clear your cache folder from your BF2 install.

The best servers are wherever your squad is using voip and supporting you, this mod sucks otherwise tbh

Like he says. Really good when your squad and team communicate and work well together. Sucks if no one plays together and you just wonder around on your own.
Thankfully, if you join the servers mentioned in this thread you should be fine.

Oh, and read the manual first!
