Win 10

Im replacing the 3 x Asmedia ASM1166's as the asmedia miniport driver doesnt support spindown
so i have a script sending a command to the drives on boot to spin down after 20 mins of idle themselves for now
and the default microsoft driver doesnt like the reset commands the os has to send to my 18TB WD and two SMR drives
the event log entry's bug me and i dont like having to have a scheduled task to run on boot to spin them down
OCD OCD

I used to use 2 x LSI 9207 4i4e's in my old build they are solid but run hot and use like 9w a card
but you have to add a registry key to get them to spin down as by default the LSI driver doesnt include it

I have ordered 2 x LSI 9217 8i's and will flash them to LSI 9207 8i when they arrive
i have 4 x Molex 55cm SFF-8087 to sata breakout cables waiting for them

on the 9207 4i4e's it was below (will be a slightly different key with the new cards)
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\PCI\VEN_1000&DEV_0087&SUBSYS_30301000&REV_05\4&37732cf4&0&0008\Device Parameters\StorPort]
"EnableIdlePowerManagement"=dword:00000001

Replaced 3 x Asmedia ASM1166's with 2 x LSI 9207 8i due to the Asmedia driver not supporting spindown even if adding the correct registry key
The LSI's by default also dont spindown but if you add the registry key they spindown fine

Replaced LSI 9207 8i P20 firmware with LSI 9207 4i4e P18 Firmware as the drive order goes on the drive id in windows for some stupid reason
I had this problem with my old LSI 9207 4i4e's years ago and found a firmware that doesnt do it do used that

Added 2 Samsung M9T 2TB 2.5"
Added 120mm Fan over the LSI 9207 8i's
Added 4 x Molex SFF-8087 to Sata 55CM cables

One of the LSI 9207 8i's is faulty and only links at PCIE 3.0 4x instead of 8x the seller has dispatched me another one from China so will replace it when it arrives)

The RGB is off for server duty incase anyone wondered

Out of interest what is it that stops you replacing all of this with a few streaming service subscriptions?
