Hi guys,

So I'm new to the whole building a PC and have been waiting for years to be able to finally afford what I wanted. Last week I made my achievement of building what I considered to be a pretty awesome rig for cheap. naturally it didn't stay cheap for very long and ended up in the region of 1200 quid :/

So heres what I have at current:

Case: NZXT Phantom Enthusiast Full Tower - Red
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
CPU: AMD FX-6100
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7950
Ram: TeamGroup Elite 8GB 1600Mhz
PSU: OCZ 650W 80 plus bronze modular
SSD: Sandisk 64GB
Hdd: WD 1TB
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60

First Batch of bits arrived :)

Now starting to build things, first things first, get the case opened up.

Motherboard out the box along side the CPU cooler

GPU fitted

Cooler and Motherboard Fitted into the case

The fan that was in the back ended up in the front as that was the only spare slot and I didnt want to see a fan go to waste.

So my room kinda exploded while I was doing this :)

Dual screen 24"

8 o'clock that night my PSU arrived thank god.

Didnt take a lot to get it fitted

Rig fired up sort of first time, kinda plugged the switches in wrong way round so the power button was wired as the reset.... ooops

Now at current the rig is Red/Blue with all black cables, my plan is for red with luminous green, and make the rig watercooled. also tidy the whole thing up and possibly make the cables myself.

The plan for the next load of mods will be
OcUK Tech Lab V6 watercooling kit
GPU cooler for the HD7950
another WD 1tb HDD and then run Raid (1 or 5) cant remember atm.
Fill up all the remaining slots on the case with full size fans, mount 1 120 radiator in the rear exhaust, if room permits then a second 240 rad in the top if not then this will be mounted in the middle of the case (not ideal but only place left with space).
Green lights for all vents, convert the LEDs in the fan controller and HDD to green.
Green cables.

Although while writing this and searching through at other peoples ideas, thanks to SavellM I now think I'm going to make a standalone unit for the case to sit on in which to mount all my radiators as the rig far as I can see can only realistically house a 120 and 140 rad in the back and front respectively and think itll be better to run larger radiators if i can. time and money will tell :D

Alas the reason why the 8pin has to be so aggressive on the eyes is cos it wasnt long enough to take up the top and hide out the way, going to be ordering the new cable amongst other things after payday.

Yh I was leaning towards bitfenix but I work in electrical engineering and quite enjoy wiring so the idea of making em myself is rather appealing and also would be far more ideal for organizing cables as I can make em as what I need.

I may just try that thanks :), found you can get one off ebay for bout 170quid, payday looks like fans and GPU

EDIT* yeah ok didnt realise it was from merica and so import charges bumped it up a wee bit lol never mind, 170 will have to do

Going to be a pair of BitFenix Spectres, 1 230mm and 1 200mm, just to bump up the air flow to help keep the GPU down when OCed as I have to have the fan working hard to keep it below 75C.

Mind you have just looked at the GPU idea and it may have to wait a wee while longer as my PSU is only 650W and at 500W a piece from the GPUs alone ill have to get a 1kW or higher which are pricy :/

gonna take all the panels off tomorrow afternoon and have a look at what radiators ill fit in the rig

well tbf when i first thought up this rig I was hoping i wouldnt get the itch and feel that I would like to go overkill with it all lol.

I'll see how badly Xmas leaves me and once I've got a spare 500quid or so then I can make a proper decision on how the rig will go.

For the moment defo on the cards is watercooling and running custom cables, the rest will follow id imagine, just at a later date.

Not much of an update but pulled the frame of the case apart again, tidied a few of the cables up. Sorry Snaggster but I haven't run the CPU PSU through the back of the rig to hide it lol.

New Sticker

In the dark

Rear view

No panels

Cables, sorry about the mess.

Now sourced together a list of bits to get once I get payed in preparation for the new CoD coming out next month :)

- OCZ 128GB Vector SSD
- BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm Green
- BitFenix Spectre PRO 230mm Green
- BitFenix Alchemy 8pin EPS extension

Thanks man, yh dual screen is an addiction, I started it on my little netbook and figured once I had the money to just go for it, and although for gaming its overkill its quite cool to be able to have temps and music on one screen while gaming on the other :D

Well just for you cool breeze I've ordered another sticker to go on it ;)

Just managed to overclock the fx-6100 to 4.1ghz without any real effort :) gonna look at doing a gentle overclock on the GPU without it getting too warm. Pics to follow tonight :)

Ill grab one for ya tomorrow night coolamasta, tho I suspect unfinished, the cables up top in the open won't look great I don't think but then I hate messy cables lol. And no, thank you SavellM, your builds one hell of an inspiration :D

As promised Coolamasta, heres a view with the sides on but the top down :D

Oh and a little sneaky glimpse through the grill ;)

Heres one of my desk at current, sorry bout the mess lol

And final one today of my desktop, the FX-6100 OCed to 4.1Ghz, may possibly go higher however no point atm until I start OCing the GPU which with the temps it pulls off under load I will do on watercooling.

The new SSD is on order now in prep for Cod Ghosts, Couldnt afford the new fans either but I'm glad as I may look to doing the radiator in the top which would mean I wouldnt need the fans in the top anyway lol :)

Let me know what you guys think. Sorry Coolbreeze but my new stickers aint turned up yet ;) I know you love em really.
