I've posted asking general questions in other threads the past few months. But now I'm on a mission to make my PC totally silent when idle.

As it stands, the PSU has to go, it's not totally modular and the fan is constantly spinning. New PSU needs to be modular!

The mobo only has 1 temp controlled 3 pin aside from the motherboard. So, a fan controller is essential.

I'm running this in a mini atx case, the CPU fan is very quit when running very low. So that's fine.

I've got 3x 120mm Noctuas and 1x 80mm Noctua.

At idle, I want all case fans off. Maybe the top one pushing out hot air at a very low speed.

GPU is a 980ti so turns it's fan off below 60C anyway.

So, what are you thinking? What fan controller? I don't want to touch it once it's setup, I need it to be active upon temperatures not manual input. So creating fan curves would be awesome.

PSU, need a fully modular PSU which shuts it's fan off at idle.

Thoughts?

I am a user who must have a totally silent PC, even when gaming. My new GPU is just about audible if I put my head to the case..... so that's ok with me.

Any way, I have been really happy with the EVGA Supernova G2 650W '80 Plus Gold' PSU. I am not sure if this is good enough for a 980ti, I presume you might want the 750W version. The fan has the "eco" mode so it doesn't spin under a certain temp (50c IIRC).

With regards to a fan controller, what about something small like this?

You could velcro it some where inside the case out the way and control all case fans from the 1 header you have.

I use 4x fractal design silent series fans (1000rpm), all are connected to my motherboard though. However, I can hear them at 1000rpm so I have them set in the bios to run at around 700-800RPM and I can no longer hear them. Mine are about 6-7 years old though and I don't remember being able to hear them at full speed when I first got them so maybe they are showing age.

What case do you have? Does it have sound dampening properties?

Aquaero. Custom curves, multiple temperature sensors, massive control. Not cheap but does exactly what you've asked for.

I use an akasa fc6 fan controller. Allows me to turn all my case fans off if required. CPU fans are ran via pwm from the CPU headers.

As mentioned, I want to set the fan curves dependent on temperatures. Then be done with it. I could, COULD get 2 of the T-Balancers, but then it's fairly expensive.

Ahhhhhhhhh, no need for 2, it can power up to 100w! So I can pair up the fans. NICE.
