Trial is only US at the moment, but it'll be interesting to see how it works out. I play exclusively over Steam Link at home which is totally fine for games like AC, and have tried Geforce Now which is surprisingly decent.

Given I've been put off upgrading my 970 by current GPU prices, any my gaming habits, I'd be quite tempted by a streaming sub service.

It's this type of tech that'll kill the need for dedicated consoles, etc, stone dead over the coming years. No wonder there are rumours MS will be putting out a streaming box alongside their dedicated hardware next gen. Casuals don't care about tech. Tell them they can play the latest Fifa, COD, etc on devices they already own at the fraction of the price of dedicated hardware and they'll be all over it.

Over the next 10 years, the console market is going to have serious competition between Steaming services, PC gaming and Mobile. Consoles won't be selling 80+m units next gen. That's for sure.

When we last heard of Google's "Project Yeti," the company was reportedly doing the rounds at the 2018 Game Developers Conference and E3 to drum up developer support for the service. The report claimed that if developers didn't come willingly, the possibility of "major acquisitions" was on the table.

High profile, exclusive games could help accelerate game streaming adoption. Hypothetically, can you imagine Google or some other firm doing a deal with Take Two to make GTA 6 an exclusive for a year or two. These sort of deals wouldn't surprise me.

As per usual, wrong again.

The biggest hurdle right now is the ISP limitations i.e. speed and data caps + throttling.

And due to the above, this is not a viable alternative for the vast majority, according to geforce now, 1 hour at 1920x1080 for 60 FPS uses 10GB per hour, 120FPS uses 13GB per hour, just imagine what higher res.'s will consume........

Watch as the next gen consoles smash records yet again, more so the PS 5.

If anything, this streaming service is going to kill PC gaming hardware even more.

EDIT:

I stand corrected, for the max bit rate 1920x1080 @ 120 fps actually uses 20GB per hour and @ 60 fps, it is 15GB per hour

You're misinformed. As always.

Casuals don't care about tech. As long as it works. Likewise, over the coming years ISP connections will be far better than they are now. Therefore all the above is void in this situation.

Are you understanding all this, Dorothy?

Casuals may not care about tech. but explain how are they going to stream games at 10/15/20 + GB PER HOUR on limited speed connections? And yes, internet will improve but not for a good few years and even then, the high speeds will still be a premium package, not to mention throttling and limited data will still be an issue HENCE why we STILL have physical media.......

Average broadband speed for the UK alone is 46.2Mbps and unless you have the likes of a 1GB connection or virgin's, BT etc. max speed package, you are going to have data caps i.e. throttling and limited data.

Comprende?
