Hi Fellas,

Well lots of you guys may have came across me on the forums (Probably posting unrelated stuff :p) but, ever since my first build I have wanted to make a project log, but never had a decent camera, or the time to do so (Well, still don't have loads of time ;)) However, I currently have a WC loop in my system with:

  1. 1x 360MM Radiator (Magicool)
  2. 1x XSPC 480mm Radiator
  3. 1x Koolance 240mm Radiator

Now while that is all well and good, I recently moved to a Corsair 780T from a Caselabs SM8, which obviously has much less space.
Due to needing the PC I used velcro to mount the modded HHD bays, and pump, but when the system is on you hear it unstick, which is quite annoying to say the least. :p

I will post a picture of the current system to date later on today. :)

So to the plans, well I have never had a unified system in terms of fans and parts, so this is my chance to do so.

My current hardware is as follows:

  • ROG RIVE X79
  • i7 4930k CPU @4.625ghz
  • 2x AMD R9 270x's
  • 1x Samsung EVO SSD
  • Sound Blaster Z sound Card
  • 16GB HyperX Beast RAM

The proposed water cooling equipment is as follows:
  • Fittings; XSPC and I like the style (My fingers will cry :()
  • EK Xres 140.
  • D5 PUMP
  • 1x Hardware labs Black Ice GTX 360mm Radiator (On top; push and pull)
  • 2x Hardware Labs Black Ice GTX 240mm Radiators (On on the front, and another on the bottom, both in Push and Pull
  • 12x OCUK watercooling Fan (Stealthy, and look super nice )
  • XSPC Matte Black Tubing
  • Mayhems Pastel RED coolant (To make that RES stand out!)

As for the fan orientation, I am considering the following, what do you guys think?

Thanks for reading, and hopefully you guys will like my ideas.
And of course any suggestions, please tell. :D

So, hit my first hurdle.

Upon a test fit My Black Ice Radiator fan screws are too short for:

Case - Radiator -Fan. :(

Any suggestions? I am aware they are M4 threaded and are 27mm I do believe. Would 30mm be sufficient, from say B&Q?

With radiators I've always used small screws to fit the radiators to the case and then the standard screws(27) to fit the fans to the radiators. That way there's no risk of puncturing the inner pipes.:)

Also, nice plans for the build :D

I couldn't say what length you need, but if you can't get the length you need exactly, just buy a pack of over long ones and trim them down to length with a hack saw. I've had to do it a few times in the past.

I will go for some 30mm ones, just measured the length, and would need at least 2mm to screw into, but there are about 2mm on the inside of the screw hole so should be good.

Will update you guys when I can.

Awaiting my EK pump holder, but will post an update once I get these screws!

Thankstechminer, it won't be like a super crazy build, but plan on adding a Fury X too when I can :p

Regarding your picture of air flow; I would have the two lower ones as blowing in (with dust filters). This will create a positive pressure within the case and help the heat flow out the top

Yep, that is what I will be doing, so. An update.

I don't have a PC, I didn't think this though, but! My one plus works with OTG with the camera card, a few copies and volia! I can update my progress.

So, to be frank now much has been done... But is update worthy. :)

System being drained:

Took a while, had to be very careful with the bottom Radiator to prevent pesky spills.

After the little dilemma with those screws, I got some new ones for the top Radiator, but still were not long enough for the front Radiator. I have improvised, and feel it looks better, but will update on that later on.

Got some nickle screws but then this happened...

They look good, used some matte car paint I used to fix my rusty wiper arms on my car. :p

And some, well fittings, and radiators. I tried to get arty, not sure if it worked out though. Let me know your thoughts.

That is all folks, still waiting on an EK bracket, but I will route up some tubing later, and mount the CPU block.

Thanks for reading. :)

So an update...

The EK Bracket finally turned up, abiet bent, but after waiting surplus of two weeks it was worth bending it back into shape, now things didn't go as smoothly as first planned.

The Res was too long for push pull fans, however, this will be fixed when I get the fury so that is fine.
For some reason the tubing was super fiddly to cut, no idea why is I have used XSPC before  but after sharpening up some scissors, we were good to go.

So first, the res, I have to say as a first time EK user the sure do not skimp on quality...

Far bigger than any specification sheet tells you. :p
But, really nice all the same.

Next up, I had some issues mounting up the front fans, the holes did not align properly, which was a problem. I ended up using some tapped holes to mount the fans in front of the radiator, instead of on it.

I think it looks great, and am very happy with the result.

More updates to follow. :)
