Project: Titanium Balls

Hello,

So I recently sold my old computer, it was a little large so I thought it was time to go back to mATX form factor.

New rig spec is as follows:

• Fortress FT03T
• i7 3770k
• 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
• Corsair AX850
• Asus Maximus Gene Z mATX z77
• HD 7970 CFX
• Corsair H80i

I've just gotten back from a business trip and I had a few parcels waiting for me, happy days!

I'm still undecided on a few things, any suggestions are very welcome:

• Fans - I'd ideally like something quiet.
• Which 7970 to go for, need to be able to CFX on a mATX board, so no triple slot coolers.
• Braiding design.

The motherboard and cooler are on their way to me as we speak, so hopefully I'll have some more updates soon

Do you think? I've seen it done before without there being temperature issues?

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! The CPU cooler & motherboard arrived yesterday so i'll be doing a quick build of everything to test all of the components thus far.

Hopefully the graphics card (7970 3x Windforce) & case fans will be arriving early part of next week. Then what's only left is sleeving the PSU! I'll upload some pictures this weekend of the testing.

Looking forward to this man, I'm in the
process of putting together a FT03T build myself. Just got my side panel back after having it cut and window fitted. Will post pics of mine as soon as it's done

I'm also looking at getting a window done, i'll be very curious to see some pictures for inspiration - where did you get the window cut out of interest?

What camera are you using?

Thanks! Just a little D3100 with the stock 18-55mm lense, I need to have a proper fiddle with the settings, as I don't really know what I'm doing yet!

Had a chance to do some testing last night - Once I get the case fans i'll be putting everything in the case, for now everything is procariously perched on the edge of my desk :thumb:

CPU seated

I was getting a little carried away with taking pictures at this point:

H80i & RAM in place:

Nice little detail I wasn't aware of - All of the soundcard components are isolated by this red line - SWISH

Everything is up & running - going to be casing up as soon as I can

I'm in a little predicament with graphics cards now - i'll update when both the nVidia card & the AMD card arrive

Another little update, thanks for all of your interest, it really makes doing this sort of thing worth it!

So in my previous update, I did a component test just to ensure that everything was working ok - In this update i'm just doing a fit test to get a feel for how everything comes together.

Please note, there are still a bunch of changes to come, so the cable management is non-existent *It may hurt your eyes*

I'm not sure what i'm going to do with the L-Shape Kettle lead, it's a really really awkward length, hopefully when i've got the GPU's in, it will become a little more restrictive and as a result clear of the best routing for it.

SSD & Secondary HDD storage in place:

I should have a all of the hardware in place before Wednesday so stay tuned for some nice piccys and a big update.

Second to last update:

All the parts are here and put together - I ended up using the gifted GTX 680 as I'd feel terrible selling a gift!

Not looking to shabby, eh?

Parts for the next official update:

• Cable sleeving, not sure if i'm going to do a custom job or just get the red sleeved Corsair cables...
• GTX 680 FTW Back plate (Possibly a second GTX 680 depending on finances... )
• Case window

I'm glad the Matx builds are catching on !

Sold the Switch as it was just too big!

I missed my old p180 mini for size, so thought I'd go back to mATX - I'm very indecisive!
