project water-noob

pretty too high for custom water to be honest! mine is 4.2ghz at 78C max with 1.248vcore under load for 24 hours.

Plus it was mentioned that the chip needed a little more volts to reach 4.2 ... 1.376 if i'm reading that right, so that is a fair bit over your 1.248 and that is going to create quite a bit more heat, so the temps aren't that bad when these factors are taken into account

i wish there was a bit more we could have done really
tech has been a nightmare with the heat today.
i have a load of bundles on the go at any one time and then the configuration racks are full most of the time too. 30 computers on 100% stress minimum at any one time is fairly horrible.
its nice in the winter though!!!

a 930 would have made this a walk in the park, although i reckon with a few more days i could have got this really fine tuned, it did pass prime and i managed to put it though a few passes of memtest too

that max temp was reached overnight too. the computer ran furmark on the gpu as well as prime overnight which i was really happy about.
the temps are entirely safe for a bloomfield chip. especially on a single loop. as PaulyD says, the ambients were just uncontrollable.

bulldog's unrelenting passion for a 4.2GHz i7 CPU 1.35v at sub arctic conditions can be ignored on this occasion. [bear in mind that he only has that cpu because he had it out of my 'god like' speedbinned stash, then automatically assumes that all 920s are like that...]
your system is masterfully quiet so that is a great achievement. the temps are acceptable given the overclock on the components in the loop.

the waterloop was configured wonderfully and everyone commented on how well put together it was for a first attempt.

the VID of the chip hovered around 1.275v so and it needed a massive boost to get to 4.2ghz
the board suffered from a massive VDroop which made clocking a bit of a task on it. it is quite a common thing on UD5s anyway so its not like it caught me offguard.
i was thinking of an upgrade to the F10 to see if that made a difference but from my vast experience with this board, i have seen the f10 can make this issue worse.

perry, just to be on the safe side [i've overclocked a million things today so i cant remember ] can you go into the bios and make sure you save the profile over the 4.2ghz one

im fairly sure i did it but want to make sure

all you do
go to bios
press F11
save it in an empty slot
hit enter

my apologies on not being able to get any pics of it. Nath didnt have his equipment with him so we couldnt take any snaps.

hope everything is running well

True my i7 920 VID was 1.10v (probably just how lucky I am) but well done Rich of put Perry a guarantee stable 4.2Ghz and I am sure u like his custom water too. Rich had a point right, not every 920's or 930's chip can be cherry one or worse chip)

:D

you have done more than enough , talk about after-sales service, overclockers uk should be proud of your dedication ;).
..and yeah, when i picked my baby up, it was still steaming , bet you get through some pit-spray in there :D

hehehe ... i could always drop if off again in a few weeks :D, no , really, i as very happy if my 4.00ghz was checked and stable, so im very happy with what you got it to do .

i ran a prime earlier today, and it was hot in my living room, it stayed around 79, hope thats ok ... i noticed a small overclock on the gpu as well or should that have been taken off ?

let me know whats in ya bin the next time i need a chip then plix .. ill gets ya some beer tokens.
and thanks for the compliments , that means a lot coming from a professional ;)

... im blushing again, stop it :o

this is one of the main reasons i was pleased of your offer to check it over, i hate bios updates .

dont worry bout the pics, ill sort that soon.
again, thank you very much for all you have done rich .. i owe you a beer ..... or ten :D

Nice to see you got this stable and overclocked. Looks like Rich did a fine job :p Wonder if he wants to come to Glasgow and clock mine to 4.2GHz and do my GPU when I get mine on water too :p haha. I'll give you a bed for the night and food mate :p

Between this thread, Rich's build and MDPC I found myself opening up my PC, re-seating my heatsink and tidying up my wires. I can't wait to do my first watercooling system, but damn... how the heck do you make PSU wires tidy :D

Bulldog wanting sub-artic temps, this made me lol. Very nice build man, was impressed when I saw it in the flesh, very clean.

Wish I'd got some pics of it for you now!

lol.. and if id have said to you guys " and i want you to do the job whilst having your eyes closed and performing cartwheels", i think you would have.
..is there no lengths you guys wont go to :D
( mmmm .. wonder if i should have asked that :p )

seriously, really impressed with all youve done for me now.. and dont worry, my mates got a better camera than me so ill get some more up when i can.

ps. my e-peen is quite happy with the temps ive got now ;)

Nice temps considering the overclock to both cpu/gpu, and ofcourse it being in OCuk's oven lol.

Dunno how those guys put up with that heat, when my rigs folding away and my monitor and lcd tv is on aswell, my room can really heat up, especially on a hot day, and to me thats sweltering.

Nice work as allways rich.

So Perry, now that it's done and dusted ....
...
...
what ya doing next, whens the next upgrade arriving ? :p

lol , paying off the credit card :D
at least i know how to spell overclockers... its written all over my statement :p.

well, theres 3 other builds at home already, that belong to other members of the family.
once one of them become redundant , due to upgrading, i will prob mod and watercool one of them.
all i know is, it will be a antec 902 mod, as they are all 902 cases :D

but for now ill start looking for a Dremel

Cool, I'm thinking of a ghetto mod

old case revival

or

putting a PC into a BETAMAX VCR or somesuch nonsense...

just to keep my hand in, not doing a watercool again for a while ... honest :p
