Hi all

Projector just made a loud bang and now has no display, I'm guessing the bulb went pop as fan still runs and green light flashing, but I've not checked it yet.
Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get a bulb from as it looks a bit of a minefield with non oem ones out there?

Cheers
Simon

When my projector went bang I thought it was a bulb but it turned out the Balance Circuit (I think) had blown. I bought a new bulb but, because I tried it, I couldn't return it.

If you can find a way of confirming it is the bulb it could save you some money and grief.

If the projectors quite a few years old it might be worth just getting a new one. My projectors 8 years old and on its first bulb so will be looking to upgrade when it goes pop.

Optoma HD50 I'll be taking the bulb out for inspection first, its got a six year warranty with richer sounds but I doubt it covers bulbs hence the need for an oem one.

Cheers for replies :)

Yeah I'm just gutted I didn't have a spare to straight swap over :D

Edit to say i do need to change it for an epsom 9400 as when we moved house it can't go back far enough to fill the 106" screen, currently have a 2" border in addition to the black one built into the screen.

Do you mean 'ballast' circuit.

Xenon bulbs e.g in cars require high voltage to strike the bulb, provided by a ballast.
