All,

Not sure if this is the right forum (dons, feel free to move if it isn't). A friend of mine uses an interactive whiteboard and a projector in her classroom. The projector is a NEC VT47 and the picture it displays has got dimmer and dimmer. I have reset the projector to all defaults, cleaned the filter, etc. In the menu it says the bulb has 80% usage left.

Anyone had any similar issues?

Projector is about 3 years old.

Lamp needs replacing already.Dont wait for it to reach 100% as i have seen NEC projector lamp blows also damaging its psu.

Can you reccommend anywhere to get one from, or are they meant to be about £155?!

EDIT: Also, how easy are they to fit?

That price sounds ok, yeah they are very easy to fit. I had an NEC VT440 which is similar some years back, there is a hatch which you unscrew to access the lamp cartridge.

Can you reccommend anywhere to buy these lamps from? I am guessing they would rather buy them from somewhere decent rather than somewhere cheap with no after-sales support if they don't work, etc.

Ivojo multimedia are a company i have used many times in the past. Very good personal service every time. They should be able to source a lamp unit.

I'd use ebay privately, but for commercial i have no issues recommending the above.

If that's the original bulb then it's done fairly well.

3 years of classroom use sounds about right. We have several of the VT460's and they needed replacing after that period.

As AtaRo says - don't let it get to 100%.

Dim is just the way they go as they age.

Price for the bulb seems about right too. :)
