Hi all

Im looking to buy a projector to play fifa on from my pc

1/ can you cast projectors on white walls?

2/ does it have to be mounted on ceiling or can it be on table and can you move the beam up and down? By that I mean I want it projecting over my monitor but of course I can't have it that high

Can cast onto white walls but you get better results with a screen or some other flat plain surface - even slight patterns or unevenness will be noticeable in distorting the picture.

Most projectors are versatile in how they can be positioned - some are optimised to be mounted upside down from a ceiling mount but that doesn't stop them from being used in other ways and likewise some are designed to be mounted on a low table and project higher onto the wall. You can also prop the projector up to change the angle or use built in shifting settings and then use keystoning to correct the image though generally its better to have it lined up properly without using keystone adjustment or shifting the image.

Thank you for reaponse. I can't wait to play fifa with this setup. I will research some good projectors tomorrow

Do they suffer from input lag? Noisy?

Noise varies hugely projector to projector and depend on settings used - generally they aren't the quietest though.

There are projectors sold as gaming/home cinema that usually have very low input lag but you might find it more hit and miss with projectors in general and often business projectors aren't suited to gaming type use. You may need to disable some image/video enhancement features to get the lowest latency.

Found the Acer Predator Z650

is that a decent price you think? I always thought projectors were 2-3K, but this is like 600 pound

I have a beastly pc rig so I don't think my computer will be issue

What colour are the non projected walls and ceiling? You will run into issues if all are light colours or white because the projected beam will bounce around reflecting off everything and washing out the image.

You are better with that 600 quid projector with a 400 quid screen than with a 2000 projector

they are all white, but I have blackout curtains so it can be pitch black

Looks like I'm painting the walls then :)

Does anyone have any recommendations about projectors with decent refresh rate/gaming mode? as this will be used for fifa which is a fast paced game online

Ive settled on either Acer predator or optoma darbee. My last question is.. they say 100 inch from xx away
My wall is a lot bigger. Are they limited to 100 inches or could I technically go 200?

I got optoma 1080 and it works great. I use Windows 10 and select project to second screen using HDMI

However on fifa the game is fast paced and everytime a player gets it.. for a second he Goes blurry which is strange any ideas? Almost like he' a ghost

Okay looks like I'm suffering from dlp motion artifacts or motion dithering

In fifa when camera pans across pitch real fast the players are almost.. well it' hard to explain but they go blurry

It doesnt happen when they are still

What projectors don' have this problem?

Might be worth unplugging your monitor and running the projector as the primary screen - make sure settings are 1080p and 60hz

It's a laptop. The laptop screen turns off when I select " project to second screen " and it does indeed show 1080p and 60hz

I have ordered the Acer Predator Z650 and it came today, not had time to fully set it up, but doesnt look like its suffering from this problem

However that also shows 60hz, which isnt bad, but I thought it was 120hz capable? strange

Looks like the Acer predator doesn't have the issue so looks like optoma is going back

The predator is a gaming projector maybe that' why

It looks great too
