Projector shelf mount, which one?

Hi all,

last time I had my projector mounted upside down on a shelf I had a cheap £10 ebay mount which did the job but it was a nightmare to get it completely right and would sometimes move and wobble.

This time I want to spend a bit more and get a good one which once set in place, will not move, and is easy to adjust and fine tune for the initial setup.

Any recommendations?

Thank you.

Jake

I went through a few options with my projector and the best one - aethetically - was a pretty standard, wooden shelf. It wasn't hanging upside down - just sitting on it and using the feet for fine adjustment. Not sure if that's any help. It's what i'll be going for in my next build rather than a ceiling mount.

That is one option. Doesn't that mean the shelf has to sit lower on the wall due to the angle of projection?

Depends on the pj and distance to the screen really. I started with it quite high up with a standard screen and moved it way down to just above head height when I got a retro reflective screen (light bounces back to the pj rather than at an angle). With a standard screen you can put it wherever you want really, as long as the pj is flexible re. zoom and height adjustment etc.

Ah ok that makes sense. Maybe I can have it just sitting on a shelf then and not worry about it otherwise. Will make cabling a little more of a challenge, but not impossible.

Will have a think, cheers :)

Still open to suggestions for mounts in case I decide to do it upside down though!

Cheers :)

Optoma do a solid looking one for £65.

Going to weigh up my options. Maybe experiment with the projector just sitting on a shelf and hold it up on the wall and see if that will "do the trick" before splashing out.

For what it's worth I used something like this ..

Sorry about the size! I bought a piece of wood, sanded it, stained it black (the room was a batcave and everything was black!) and it looks dead smart

I just mounted an HD141X in my sons room using a duronic ceiling mount, maybe not the easiest to adjust as it is all Allen keys but it does move in every direction and is very solid. I think the price was really good too, I'm at work so I can't check but I think it was around £20.
Mounting it to the Projector was a bit of a faff in all honestly though.

So this weekend I looked into shelf placement and projector etc. I definitely need to mount it upside down.

The hunt for a mount begins!
