Hi

I`m planning on buying another 120mm Fan to put on my Noctua NH-D14 so i`ll have three fans on it.

I`ll be placing the fan on the Noctua Coolers empty side that normally fases the rare of the computer case so as i`ll need to buy some Fan Wire Clips to attach
the fan on the Noctua, I was wondering if the Prolimatech Fan Wire Clips OcUK sell will do the trick???

Thanks for responding.

Dont forget the rubber vibration strips to go at the back of the 2nd block ;)

Do you know which fan you will be using? rpm/static pressure specs?

A

I have a spare Noctua NF-S12 1200RPM fan I bought from OcUK some time ago but never got around to using it on my older system, so i`m going to put this on it.

Correct.

1 P-14 (140mm round) in the middle and 1 P-12 (120mm) at the end (intake end commonly).

This is my D14 when I fitted it yesterday.

... You need more!!!! I dont think adding a 3rd fan will make a great deal of difference. I think the only way you could improve that cooler is by adding more case fans the feed the beast.

It's a real shame the design they'd have sold a lot more if they made it more ram slot friendly only people with low profile sinks on ram can have one of these.

On the RAM subject.

I have the Corsair Dominator RAM in my system and the P-12 fan at the end of the cooler is just above the top of my RAM and just about
touches them even with the fins off the Corsair, so i`m not exactly sure one of those 140mm round fans would fit anyways.

For the sake of a degree or two its not worth it imho. The D14 really shines at the top end of the heat spectrum. At idle and low-medium cpu usage it will be in the same league as the other air-coolers.

Also the D14's ability to keep temps at very acceptable levels when the Fans are spinning at @900 rpm too.

Still a very nice piece of kit.

I have very poor air-flow inside my case. However, I still get cracking temps off this thing. Gaming in Bad Company 2 with everything on MAX, HD5970 at 30% Fan speed, the D14 keeps the CPU at a very nice 45 deg. In this weather too, its a great accomplishment.

It will be interesting to see what that new Noctua will be capable of (you posted a link to it the other day).

They have quite a few prototype products they were showing at Computex:

No. Its fully capable at doing the job with the default Fan's and Positioning.

I fully agree here, there's not much point changing the 12cm fan at the front. In fact, I find the default configuration to work slightly better than with 2xNF-P14s.

Thanks everyone that has responded with their thoughts on this.

I`m just going to buy a pack of of Fan Wire Clips so I can use my spare Noctua NF-S12 on the Noctua Coolers empty side.

I have the fan on Noctua Coolers empty side at the moment attached with heat resistant tape and it has nocked a couple of C of my temps.

Thank You!
