Might be a question for customer services but also could be being stupid. Its my first ever build so nervous anyway.

I got a Gigabyte Z87 D3HP mobo that came with a free Prolimatech cooler. I have fitted the Haswell i5 4670 CPU and was about to fit the cooler. Its a 1150 socket set board.

The parts on the cooler just don't make sense and the instructions mention either LGA 1156 or AM2/2+/3. Essentially the hole in the backplate you are supposed to fit over the CPU to connect the cooler to is way too small.

It looks simply like the cooler supplied with the mobo doesn't fit. I had presumed, call me stupid, that a cooler coming as an extra to a mobo would fit it but it appears there is a catch, it doesn't. Or maybe OC have put in the wrong cooler. Maybe my fault for not checking the small print. On the cooler page here;

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-012-PL

It says on the page above at the start it fits 1150 then in the product description below it says only 1156 and 1155 and amd sockets. Plainly some confusion here.

I did want to overclock so wanted an aftermarket cooler, now peeved I will have to wait one way or another. Should I be pushing customer services or is this my fault, or am I missing something somewhere?

1156, 1155 and 1150 have the same mounting holes. :)

Problem solved..

The only reason its not on the product is they'd have to re-make the product for no reason..

Apologies if this is patronising, but when you say "the hole in the backplate you are supposed to fit over the CPU", you're not trying to fit the backplate on top of the CPU are you? It goes on the back of the PCB
