Prompted to update Radeon driver, now computer says no ATI graphics driver installed

I was prompted last night to install the new 14.12 ATI driver for my Radeon HD5850. However, after installation my computer is reporting that 'No AMD graphics driver is installed' and I'm constantly being prompted that a new driver is available (the driver I've just installed). I can't select the required resolution for my monitor.

Does anyone know what's going on? I've never had any issue installing updated Radeon drivers in the past.

Many thanks

M

Can you go to program files and see if amd driver is showing up, if so try installing it and reinstall again.

Failing that download DDU display driver uninstaller from guru3D, run the program when asked to restart into safe mode select yes, pc will restart and now you should be in safe mode.

Select amd and recommended setting and run pc will restart again now continue to install 14.12 driver.

I've reinstalled the 14.9 driver and this works fine.

Thanks for the help.
