Question: How do you do pronounce accusatory?

acc-use-a-tory / a-cues-a-tory

acc-u-zate-ory

Most online pronunciations, and a lad in my office, say acc-use-a-tory. I disagree, but there seems to be no general consensus. Help us out.

I would use "acc-u-zate-ory".

I think it's one of those words where both pronunciations are acceptable though.

I think the most correct is accuse-a-tory with all those syllables pronounced as you would the individual word.

That said when I say it it sounds more like accuse-a-tree

I can't imagine anyone pronouncing it "acc-use-a-tory".

Try actually saying that. You end up having to pause after the "acc" in order to properly pronounce the "use" part.

Throwing my hat in with the "a-cues-a-tory" group.

Accusatory

Emphasis probably goes on the "zay" part. As in "ak-u-ZAY-tory"

That's how I've always said (and I thought heard) it anyway.
