Pronunciation of texted?

As the title says, how do you pronounce it?

I heard people said texted without the "ted" bit but a reader on BBC4 said it as in "separated"

Yes, you would be surprised if you pay attention, a lot of people do say tex-ed That's what I thought as well tex-ted is correct because it's there and you're supposed to say it
