Proper way to check Automatic Gearbox Oil Level?

Hi all,

Please can someone tell me what is the proper way to check the level of Automatic Gearbox oil..?

should be in the manual. On my car it tells me to drive for 20mins, stop and then slowly push the selector through each gear waiting 5secs in each. After this check the dip stick.

There is a cold mark on there as well but the manual says a warm reading is far more accurate.

On my jeep, its in park or neutral once warmed.

You have to check it with the engine idling as well. Otherwise the fluid will get caught up in the torque converter.

Engine idling, driven up to full temp, and in drive usually - but check your manual, only way to be certain.
