Properly Blank a DVD RW

Got a tool at work that encrypts data and backs it up to dvd.

We would like to use DVD RW but the app won't allow writing to a disk that has been used - even if it has had a full erase in Nero.

Is there an app that can do a better job of erasing the disk?

works, dunno what nero was doing but it didn't seem to be a full format/erase
