I've been trying to order a blackout blind from Blocblinds as I want a high quality one for the bedroom as I work shifts. Unfortunately they have screwed my order up repeatedly and I can't trust them to do it right so am looking for an alternative.

Can anyone suggest a velux style blackout blind for a non-velux window?

Cheers

Unfortunately not. Those are for Velux windows but I want that style for a normal windows recess. Thanks though.

You link the blackout material with your current blind so you have two layers. I used to have blackout curtains when I worked shifts.

We use some blackout material which attaches with velcro in our boys rooms, it's surprisingly good. You cut the material to size yourself and use sticky velcro around the edge of the window.

Have you used blinds before?
I tried using blinds but took them down, when it's windy they blow about and make loads of noise and when it's hot they don't let any air flow compared to curtains. Neither are good for us shift workers.

I've got blinds and curtains!

Need to get some blackout ones though as I'm not on shifts - anyone recommend any good websites to order from?

I had the same. Missed parts and took a week for rest to arrive. Shame because now it is fitted they are great.

What's wrong with just buying the self fit ones? Measure and cut to size, then if it isn't dark enough you can either make or buy some small L plastic brackets and fix them to the wall so the bottom of the blind uses them as a type of runner.

We do the same - it is indeed very good, even completely dark with the sun on the window.

I use black out curtains.

Weve got two types in our house one set in the living room for when we wanna watch a film or something which are a normal curtain with an extra really thick layer sown onto the back these were bought from next, were £500 ish tho (2 sets celing to floor so quite a lot of curtain)

And the type in the bedroom you thread onto your curtain rail in between your curtains and were bought from dunelm. Both are fantastic.

Edit :- just seen you want a blind :s
