Hi guys... I wonder if you could perhaps look at this proposed order and see if I'm barking up the right tree with things?

Any obvious components that I should change etc? Cheers.

Welcome to the forums :D

All looks good,in fact very similar to the spec I've just built. One thing to remember with the ram though..the SPD timings are very conservative..you need to set them to 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v manually in the BIOS.

Other than that, good luck with the build :D

All looks pretty good, might consider stretching a little more for a Corsair 520HX PSU and a 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC5300 Kit

Looks ok to me.. You might want to treat yourself to a decent HSF if you intend making full use of the memory bandwidth..

And why the DS3 and not the DS4??

Not sure about the Antec PSU either. Nothing wrong with the PSU you have choosen but it might be worth investing in a higher valued PSU, like the Cosair or seasonic, if you can stetch that far.

I'll get the corsair PSU.
Other than that, everything is perfect, I can testify ... I built that precise system last night (bar the GFX card)

Do you intend to overclock?

I'm not sure tbh. I never have in the past, but people say the C2D chips overclock really well, so if I can overclock without spending any more cash then I'd consider it, aye.

Any recommendations? I don't want to stretch the spending too much beyond £600odd if possible.

I'm not sure tbh! I'm not very clued up on m/b's.

Will check that out, cheers.

Then you'll need the 6400 memory really. This will give you some head room on the memory frequencies shoud you decide to overclock. You'll need a decent HSF as per my post above..

Replace the harddrive with this:

Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
Really fast and quiet.

and change the PSU to this:

Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU OR

Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU if you can afford it.

Still might change the m/b, as this is more than I wanted to spend.

Can anyone advise me on cooling for this system if I decide to overclock?

Perhaps dropping down to the e6320 or e6420 would be better, and they have the same cache as the e6600, so the only downside as i see it, is the stock speed.

I think that mobo is really overkill, no need to spend that amount.... DS3P or the P5N-E Sli (£88 or £82) are both equally good enough.....

My next question, is will all of that fit into this?... (although I think mine is the first version of that case with the 380W PSU)
