Hi Everyone,
So i think the time is approaching where i am ready to press the order button... I was hoping you guys could fill in a few blanks and steer me clear of any bad decisions...

Case: Silverstone Fortress FT02B
Mobo: either (Gigabyte P67A-UD4) or (Asus P8P67 PRO) what about EVGA?
CPU: Intel 2500k OEM
Cooling: Alaska Venom
RAM: either (Corsair XMS3 8GB) or (Corsair Vengeance 8GB)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570
SSD: Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB x2 (Raid0)
DVD/BLU-Ray: Pioneer BDR-205 12x BluRay RW / 16x DVD±RW Drive
PSU: Corsair Professional Series™ Gold AX750
Monitor: either (U2311H) or (U2410)
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Fatal1ty Professional Series

So i guess my questions are:
1. which CPU cooler should i get that is good and will fit
2. Which RAM should i get?
3. Which optical drives should i look at?
4. Which screen do you think i should get?
5. Are any of these choices misinformed?
6. Did i leave anything else out?

Ok i think that is about it... please cast your eye over and tell me what you think...

Many Thanks
Jonathan

1) Look at something around the £30 mark, imo this is the sweet spot of cooler performance/price, much more than this is diminishing returns and should only really be considered if youre benching, a few that spring to mind are the Akasa Venom, Titan Fenrir and Gelid Tranquilo, in no particular order

2) Id say the XMS3, or the Geil stuff which you didnt list, as these do not have additional fins which may get in way of coolers like the dominators

3) In my experience, Pioneer are very good, as are Lite On, currently running an LG Blu Ray myself and its OK, Sony used to be the number one recomendation but must admit not been overly impressed, theyre OK just nothing special, Id recomend getting a retail box for the software though, they dont cost much more and you run into less issues, especially with Blu Ray

4) Well if its in budget the better one, lol, seriously though its upto you, obv the U2410 is a cracking screen but the 2311 is very good too

5) No it looks good, though Im not sure youd need your storage drives in RAID tbh, and if you want to keep SLi option open (I presume you do based on mobo choice) Id go with a bigger PSU (great choice BTW) at least the 850 if not more

6) As long as you got OS youre good to go I think

hi,
Its going to be expensive...

1) I have at least heard of the Akasa Venom and the Titan Fenrir, i just dont know which would fit in this case and obviously, which is best.
2) the XMS3 does indeed look good, i saw the OCUK guys heaping praise on it aswell... so XMS3 or ripjaw??
3) ill add in a pioneer blu ray reader, i have a writer on my laptop and have never ever burned a disc.
4) i hate choosing screens, the U24 is like double the price but those extra pixels are tempting
5) ill get a 850 watt? or more? i was liking the idea of raid0 just for data protection, side question... if the mobo had only 2 Sata 6gb ports what way would you do that with a SSD on sata 6gb and the raid0 on sata 3gb?
6) i have lots of windows and linux discs lying about :)
7) what motherboard would you be getting outta the P8P67 PRO, the GD4 or the EVGA mobo

Well I guess thrifty's cleared up the main points.

With regards to the cooler, I've got the Akasa Venom and have to say it's pretty sweet.

1) Pretty sure theyll all fit in that case
5) Its a shame the AX series jumps form 850 to 1200, Id like something around 900-1000 really if it were me planning for a 570 SLi system, a stock system can pull around 800W (admittedly under furmark - but its better safe than sorry, especially with this sort of high end components) so allowing for OCing Id want more than 850 personally, just to be safe
7) All very good, though Ive seen a coupla threads reporting issues with the Asus but I havent seen what these issues are meant to be, and OcUK use them in their bundles so they cant be all that a big an issue, if youve worked with any of the brands before and like their BIOS then go for that, though Im not sure how much of a difference these new EUFI/UEFI (whichever it is) BIOSes will be compared with the old legacy ones

update spec!! :) inc sound card

Yeah i saw a lot asus issues but they are still getting lots of praise in magazines and even anandtech...
