Proposed Watercooling System

Hi,

I am thinking about going for water cooling and have come up with the following design.

To cool the two graphics cards i have split the pipe into two and then rejoined them after the liquid has passed through the GPU blocks. Is it possible to do this? And will the single 2 x 120mm radiator be enough to cool the liquid?

If not, will i need a 2nd radiator and should it be positioned between the CPU and GPUs?

I don't really want a 2nd radiator as i am pretty sure that it wouldn't fit in my case.

Specs are in sig...

Avoid using a Y splitter if you can. It kills the flow rate. a 120.2 should be fine unless you are running silly high overclocks with silly volts. 2 x rads will kill flow also meaning you would need a second pump or a very powerful pump.

Sounds like Jokester is being vauge again

He swears by tubing coils. I have never used them but I can see their advantage where a loop can be dificult to route.

Trust Jokester (thousands wouldn't). ;)

Reinforced tubing is great for putting tight bends in, but what I meant was, don't worry what order you put blocks etc in other than to have the fill port/res on the inlet of the pump.

You will probably find that 1 litre is enough but better to have too much than not enough.

I have a similar setup mate.
I run -
pump (inc res) -> 120.2rad -> CPU -> 120.1rad -> SLI GPU's -> pump

I put it this way to cool the most before hitting th eCPU, most important part, then rad to remove a little heat before GPU's.
Not sure how much help second rad is, or if it impeads cooling due to extra resistance in loop, but with my overclocks I run 39C on both GPU's and about 42C under load on the CPU, AND I am running crap NeXXos rads not nice thermochill ones (much much better for lower system resistance).
Dont forget to clean rads before use like i did!!!

Hope this helps

I used methylated spirit in mine and plenty of distilled water. Only used the meths as there had been some rather nasty stuff growing in there so thought I'd kill it off. Vinegar sounds good. Don't put any sort of detergent in there though, it'll just froth up like hell.

Thanks, cleared up a few questions i had :)

Woah, that rad cleaning is gonna take up a lot of time

Just seen the block cleaning... up to 24 hours. Surely there is a quicker way, i am an impatient person :p
