Launches February 11 on Steam.

Prospekt has been developed by one man: 25-year-old Richard Seabrook over the course of 18 months. It’s basically a fan-made sequel to Gearbox’s Half-Life: Opposing Force and takes full advantage of the Source game engine. The mod received enough votes on Steam Greenlight to be approved and then also got official approval from Valve.

As a standalone single-player game it adds an experience about the same size as Episode One to the Half-Life 2 universe. There’s 13 brand new levels to enjoy, which integrate well into the existing story and has you controlling US Marine Adrian Shepherd. Gordon Freeman is cornered in the Nova Prospekt prison and you as Shepherd have been teleported in to help him.

10% off if you pre-purchase on Steam. So who's coughing up ?

Nah. Proper HL3 or I'm not interested. There's nothing exciting about more levels for HL2.

Even HL2:Ep3 would be utterly underwhelming at this point.

We've all moved on. Half Life 2 was a good shooter for its time, but today it's nothing special. The awesomeness of HL has dulled with age, and there's been no renewal from Valve to keep us interested or hyped for the HL world. 2004 was over a decade ago.

I'll be getting it.

Half Life has a special place in my heart as the first real game I played that got me interested in serious PC & console gaming.

I hope that one day we'll see a HL3, but, as time goes by I fear less and less certain we will. My only hope is that Valve are waiting for VR to be widely available, and will launch something on their HTC Vive collaboration.

"Release date push back to 18th of Feb"

Looking forward to this.

Think my new 6800nu with pixel & vertex pipelines unlocked will play this on high settings ?

I'll have to watch some gameplay as going by the Eurogamer review it doesn't really sound too appealing to me. Entirely based in Nova Prospekt which I wasn't fond of the first time around, all corridors and concrete apart from a few small outdoor sections. The wave after wave of Combine soldiers doesn't sound too good to me either, they were my least favourite enemy in HL2, Xen creatures are the things that made the Half Life series interesting for me. Whenever I was forced to fight the Combine it instantly felt just like any other generic FPS.

Its not great TBH, mostly tight interior settings and lots of Combine, its more like a run and gun type game using the HL2 setting

If you buy thinking your going to be playing anything like an official HL game I dont think it feels like one. The engine shows its age too.
