Hey guys.

My work are doing a new rota, they have sent us a template on open office but the cells are all protected.

We need to write the names into the rota but no one knows the password, is there a way around this?

Thanks,
Adam.

Failing the above if you want to email me (sig) I'll get the password for you, had to do it myself a couple of weeks ago so I could copy some cells (very annoying!).

I've phoned my boss and he doesn't know the password. We have to wait until someone can contact the guy who designed it. It's a pain in the bum!

I'd rather just crack the password and go. All we need to do is start putting names / times into the rota, really don't know why it's locked. Not exactly important stuff :p

Google on how to remove a password from excel, there are lots of ways. An easy one is to use a hex editor to edit the password out.

I use Excel a lot. Ive never used VBA. Does that mean I am lying? Or just that I only use it as a spreadsheet and calculating values?

I should have rephrased my comment, apologies, I should have said that you used it at a beginners or intermediate level.

Hm,

I can post a vba routine that will unlock your worksheet, but am I allowed? You can use Excel help to find out how to run a macro.

me.
