Hi

My renewal will be coming up next month.

Do other insurers take into consideration protected no claims policy's you had with your previous insurer.

I ask because I made a claim to get a dent repaired on my car about 6 months back so does that count as a claim when I'm filling in online quotations etc or do i still put that i have had 0 claims.

I want to make sure that if i change my insurer i wont get screwed over and them not accept that i had protected no claims with my old insurer.

No Claims Bonus is seperate to having made no actual claims. Your dent will have to be noted down as a claim, but you will still have however many years NCB.

I hope you didn't claim on a car that is your namesake....

lol no that was my old car, i own a Fiesta ST now

So what Skeeter is saying is my protected no claims means nothing and im still going to get screwed over on my renewal?

No, not at all. You will be able to put down you X years NCB, but will also have to add the one claim. It will be exactly the same as your current situation, where the insurer has you down with however many years NCB, but also has 1 claim on its records.

As skeeter says. You protected NCB follows you wherever you go (just like a normal NCB) but you will need to declare the claim and it will bump the price up.

Great, looks like it will be pants down time then when me renewal comes through!

Again, no, not really. Your current policy has you down with X years NCB and 1 claim, so your new insurer will too... its the exact same situation so you should pay a comparable amount.
