Hello all,

the only chance I get to read books at the moment is when I'm in the car while my son is sleeping. However, I have a number of unread books that are collectors editions and so I don't like to take them out of the house. Is there such a thing as a protective book holder ... weatherproof, hard enough to survive a drop on the pavement etc. In my mind I'm thinking of something like a tiny flight case with foam inside. Is there such a thing???

Cheers,

Jed

Watch the road dude, trust me it saves a lot of trouble in the long run.

Oh, hang on, I get it, your son is the one doing the driving.

Erm...

It might not be the answer you're looking for, but if they are that precious I'd get an ebook version. A protective sheath would have to accommodate many book thicknesses and sizes.

My serious suggestion is probably a gun shop, which would sell carrying cases for pistols in various sizes.

Pound shop neoprene iPad covers if they don't need to be particularly tough.

Boom boom :D My little boy is an absolute pain at trying to go to sleep. He never drops off in the house, but within two minutes of driving he's nodded off. So I park up outside the house for an hour or so and twiddle my thumbs :)

Dirtychinchilla - can you reuse those sleeves, or do you need to cut it to size for a specific book?

SickAsAParrot - that sounds like a good idea.

Edrof - ebook is a possibility, I just don't like the idea of buying a book twice :D Its a shame that you don't get a free ecopy, or discount when you buy a physical copy. Actually, I'dd gladly pay a small premium on a physical book that came with an ebook version as well...

My wife bought me a new bag for work for Xmas and I'm using that at the moment, wrapping the book in a thick plastic bag first and the bag protects it all from the elements. Not that I'd be out in the rain for long...
