Protective wrap

i heard that a stone that would cause a stone chip can rip the wrap and then get dirt in the hole which then agitates the paint anyways which ends up a lot worse then applying abit of touch up paint.

It depends whether you're just wrapping the car in vinyl or applying proper protection like VentureShield which does *reduce* the likelihood of stone chips.

I have a small amount of similar material that was factory fitted on the Elise side panels and it's done a very good job. Wish the whole car had been done!

Assuming you mean the protective films that are installed in sections to the areas that pick up stone chips, a lot of high end sports cars come with this type of stuff installed or as an option at least.

The stuff on my old man's Aston V8 does a great job of protecting from stone chips and it is easy to replace if damaged as it is installed in sections. He scraped it getting into the garage a few weeks back and the film took all the damage, the paint was fine.

If you polish your car a lot one downside is that polish can get trapped on the edges and make them a lot more visible. Also, if some of the film does get damaged then it can quickly look poor as water spreads under the film.

On the whole though, if I was buying a pricey new car or just spent a fortune on a respray, I'd consider getting it done. Wouldn't bother for run of the mill stuff.

Yeah that's why im considering it, It's a little pricey at around £350 for the front bumper, lip and bonnet but still worth it if it stops the road rash.
