hi

i have this unit on my 3700 @ 2.55ghz and fahmon says its got 9 days to go and its already completed 38%. This is very strange and this unit would usually take 3 days on this PC.

I cant seem to work out why it says 9, is it a better bet just to delete it and start a new unit?

thanks

it just says

so I added that flag in registry, now it said forced optomizations, hopefully this will sort it, Extra SSE boost OK :D

thanks for your help. VERY useful people here as always :)

nope.. pretty warm and sultry oop 'ere in 'Ull (that's Hull !!) but no storms so far.. My little farm is whirring away as normal :)

Kinnison.

it terminated as my pc randomly rebooted. I dont know why it ran for a month before I rebooted it last time at the same speed, maybe its the heat.

ya, i know what you mean. One of my bare mb's (a 2400 sempron) rebooted itself yesterday for no known reason, after being on for a good month or more. It did get up to 30C in my room yesterday, so maybe that was it!

I don't like abnormal unexplained crashes. Had a bsod the other day for no reason. It was hot, but it's been hotter recently. Backed off 20 or so MHz, seems to be okay again. Thinking about priming again but can't be bothered tbh.

priming is a waste of time when folding - it doesn't get the machine quite as hot as some 24/7 folding ;)

if you start getting EUE's then you know it's time to go back to basics

He's right you know :p

I've had a rig dual prime stable for 8 hours only to have it fail within a couple of hours folding.

SnM is better - I think, it seems to stress the CPU more than prime :)

Stan :)

I think folding is the most stressfull computing app for on a PC's components tbh, some PC's I had could run SETI@Home fine but folding they'd lock up and I'd have to back the overclock off 150mhz or so to make it folding stable. Tis strange.

Yeh S&M does heat it more and quicker, but I'm not sure if it's as suitable for testing a folding rig as prime. Prime makes calculations and checks for correct results, but what exactly does S&M do? I've never had it find "instability" other than giving a bsod. Please correct me on this :)

Also on x64 I have to run it in win98 emulation, which is a bit dodgy sometimes.

As far as I can tell SnM just completely batters the CPU in order to heat it up good n proper. Fine for a quick stability test but I would recommend against claiming your rig is stable just from that test alone.

Prime is still the best bet for testing because it tests actual calculations and your CPU can **** that up at any temperature if your OC is unstable.

I am glad to say my overclock has been going nearly a fortnight with no EUEs :D
