Hello all,

I'm looking at buying the proton proceed either today or tomorrow, with a gtx 980, no ssd and a 2tb hdd. Regarding the water cooling, is it best to get the black case with the mesh front or can I have a coloured case with the solid front and still have sufficient air flow for the cpu/gpu? This will be my first water-cooled pc, I have no idea what's best.

Thanks

Ian

You can have either. There is sufficient airflow on the plain front version for the cooler and card. the GTX980 run cool for their power and also if its a reference cooler card then it will exhaust hot air directly out the rear.

OcUK would have tested all configurations and approved the normal front panel fit for purpose.

You know you could ask OcUK to build a system to a spec you want? also looking at the Proton CPU it doesnt actually say its a "K" variant of the CPU.

I was thinking I might ask for the k variant. Not too fussed about overclocking to be fair. Was just concerned about sufficient airflow. I know the mesh front is best for air cooled systems, didn't know about water cooled. It is the reference design gtx 980 I want, which should draw enough air in thru the side panel shouldn't it?

Thanks again

Ian
