Why do such beautiful prototypes inevitibly get nerfed styling wise? Some of the GM/VW etc concepts are really good to look at, but when they finally hit production they look a pale shadow of their proto counterparts. Case in point, VW EOS. The concept was far superior to the release model (I still like it though, just not as much !). Another example is the proto Vauxhall insignis quattro. The drawing is miles better than the body styling in the "spy shots"

BAHHHHH

Stylists don't live in the real world so engineers have to turn their dreams into something which can actually be manufactured whilst meeting regulations (and without upsetting the beancounters)

As an example, when was the last time you saw a concept car with a front number plate or even anywhere to put one?

Ford Verve Concept is rumoured to be pretty identical to the release car even down to the lack of B pillars.

Look at the release of the Prototype for the latest Mondeo! Looked like a Aston Martin.

Prototypes are really expensive and would be far too expensive to make and then for an average customer too buy. it all bails down to production costs ;)
