I'm selling a brand new, sealed, Apple TV box on Facebook and someone has messaged me asking for the serial number so they can check it's the model they want. Is there any reason not to so this? For example, can they use it to get the 12 months free access to Apple TV therefore preventing any future actual buyer getting it?

It’s absolutely fine, I asked the same question when I bought one second hand so I could check the AppleCare status. The free AppleTV+ is activated when it’s logged into an account, not by registering a serial number.
