Provisional World Cup Squad

One thing I know for sure ... no matter who gets picked for England, someone will always, always, always complain. :D Why doesnt everyone just lighten up and get behind the team? :p

Im not happy with Campbell and Hargreaves in the squad, but the rest i can get along with, just hope at least one of Owen or Rooney are perfectly fit before it all kicks off, just in case.....

Look forward to seeing Lennon and Walcott getting a run out though

Campbell over Brown? You're having a laugh...

SWP and Defoe were shoe ins and I can't believe he didn't pick them. Imagine Ian Wright's reaction right now :D

No Scott Parker or Jermaine Pennant either?

Owen Hargreaves... Wow. Just... wow.

tbh I don't think SWP and Defoe are shoe ins, Defoe has never been good, he's been overrated for years and as for SWP, he has lost all of his confidence it's not his fault but that's life, in his current state he's not England material.

As for Owen Hargreaves like everyone has said he's versatile plus he has the added bonus of playing in Germany already.

I think Walcott was a good selection personally, I think if he gets a run out he will shock the other teams. It's not that good an example but when Jason Robinson played for the British Lions he hadn't even played Rugby Union for his club team (Sale) but he terrified the Austrailian defence as they had done no homework on him and had no prior experience of him.

P.S- Everyone stop complaining and support the squad we've got. :p

Exactly, I'm not going to moan about anyone in the squad now, except James. That's who's going (injuries permitting) so I'm right behind them, I'll complain when/if we fail:)

To me, when your two best CFs are injured, you bring in the player with the most international experience and in this case that's Defoe (well technically it'd be Heskey lol).

I know SWP is lacking match time this season, but every time he's put on an England shirt he's looked to provide England's best threat of getting in behind defenders and turning players over... I mean come on, he's a damn sight more useful than Jenas imo.

Surely as others have said, Phil Neville is a far better option than Hargreaves?

Mr_L - cheers didn't know that about Parker ;)

These are the players i have big doubts about:-

James (Manchester City) - Absolute liabilty. I'm praying Robbo doesn't get injured!

Green (Norwich) - Average keeper (at best). He's in by default.

Campbell (Arsenal) - Slow (nowadays), clumsy and head not right.

Hargreaves (Bayern Munich) - Mediocre jack of all trades, master of none.

Jenas (Tottenham) - Too hit and miss for my liking. Only in as company for A Cole!

Downing (Middlesbrough) - Good crosser but doesn't score enough goals. I'd have had Richardson in instead. Richardson could also play at left back if need be.

Crouch (Liverpool) - Talentless 'striker'. Wouldn't be anywhere near the England side if he was still at Southampton.

Walcott (Arsenal) - Promising, but like Crouch, he wouldn't be anywhere near the England team if still at Southampton. Who's picking the side, Erikkson or Wenger?

If i was Darren Bent i would be feeling seriously sickened right now. I'm not his biggest fan, but it's a joke for him to be behind Crouch, Walcott and Johnson.

I just hope McClaren did't have any input into the picking of Walcott in front of Bent and Defoe. If he did, we are seriously screwed for the future!

Also, since when has Joe Cole been a striker? Erikkson said in the press conference that J Cole would probably act as the 5th striker. Big mistake!

From thinking we had a good chance of winning the World Cup, i now think we have zero chance. Defensively i think were OK, but any more injuries in midfield then we are knackered.

Come on guys.........its a joke squad!!! Nothing to be worried about, just look at the date!!!

.....oops, its not the 1st of April...... :(

No disguised swearing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont see why people can be unhappy with the players in the squad.

im surprised people didnt have a heart attack when owen was left out yesterday.

only player to have any slight concern over is rooney...

Owen is a massive doubt.
Hes been out 5 months with the same injury that everyone is expecting Rooney to recover from in 6 weeks.
He had half and hour last week and as a result failed a fitness test yesterday.
He also had to have a second operation on his foot a few weeks back.
Somethings not right with him.

Think its time David Dean (sp) was chucked out of the FA tbh,cos it stinks a bit when the untried prodigy he pledged a lot of money for is surprisingly included in a squad he should be nowhere near just yet.

Haven't been around much but from what I remember you support Liverpool yet you sound like Spurs fan ;)

If you check your facts David Dein is no longer in the FA. Also what has Dein got to do with Walcott being picked? Will him being picked make his price tag jump? Bloody hell whenever something relates to Arsenal and the FA comes up blame Dein!

England have a lack of pace in their squad if you take Lennon and Walcott out, that is why imo he was picked.

Isn't Dein still on the FA board?

Also, if i remember correctly, Dein was the one who pushed Erikkson's wages up to the £4 million he is alledgedly getting. There just seems something not right about Walcott's addition to the squad.
