Provisional World Cup Squad

This england team is all about the midfield, and i think we will be devastating here, as the players name allow england to have so much variation and the attacking threat from midfield is its strength...gerrard and lampard dont have to sit too deep now. If crouch is deployed up front then we will see gerrard and co bombing it forward from midfield with crouch holding it up for them. The attacking midfield will be the key of this world cup and most goals will come from there. i think Gerrard and lamps will get a few goals each. I just hope either terry and gerrard will be captain cos i can see the need for a Beckham substitution and an injection of more pace with walcott and lennon on the bench.
 
i think beckham will have a good tournament this time.. its about time he does. plus its his last.

gerrard is going to be immense for us, im really pleased we have had no injuries regarding midfield...

fingers crossed over the next few weeks and friendly games.

Im happy with the squad tbh - ok King but then wont play unless we get an injury.
Lenon showing hell of a lot better form than SWP but still wont be in starting 11
Walcott - who knows but i bet he makes a few ppl eat their words!

There wont be any surpises or tricks up his sleeve, there wont be any grand master plan of playing Walcott or whatever.
**** it, i can even name his substitutions for EVERY match right now.

70 minutes Cole off Jenas on Gerrard moves to left mid.
80 minutes Crouch off Johnson on
89 minutes lampard off Hargreaves on.

Its a joke squad, it really is, you take Carrick and the like in the hope he is going to play a defensive mid and grow some balls and drop Gerrard or Beckham, but no, he wont.
Campbell? Fat, slow, has lost all of his timing and reading of the game.
Walcott? the boy has not even played a single SECOND in the premiership, let alone scored any goals, how good can he be if Adebeyor is keeping him out of the Arsenal Squad?
Gayness? the New Emile Heskey as far as i am concerned, undeserving of even looking at a England shirt, let alone wearing one.

Worst case scenario if we have injuries is a midfield and front line of:


Beckham Hargreaves Gayness Downing
Johnson Walcott.

WHAT IS THE POINT? we crashed out of Euro 2004 because our grand plan when Rooney got injured was to bring Vassell on and do nothing but lump balls forward.
Our plan B this tournament seems to be if we get any injuries, we just give up.

I'd rather have Heskey than Crouch.
At least Heskey could muster up a casual jog when he needed to.

Dont know why u are so pessimistic, you might as well not support england in this world cup then.
 
Cracking squad forward wise, 2x are crocked so that leaves Crouch, and Walcot whoever that is. :D

We'll win it for sure. :p

Heskey rather than Crouch, are you mad!!!, Crouch has done great for us, and scored a fair few now.

Its not pessamisim, it pointing out the very real downsides of the squad he has picked.

Crouch for all his "good feet for a big fella" nonsense has no pace, no craft, he cant beat people, he is poor in the air, poor on the floor, slow, weak and clumsy.

Heskey was all of the above bar slow, he was faster than crouch, and there fore "better".

Why Pick Sol Campbell, who has barely played and when he has he has been a complete liability and leave Wes Brown at home? who although no Moore or Adams himself, has played about a thousand times better than campell this year.
Why take Jenas AND Hargreaves, and take 4 strikers, two of which are injured one of which has never played top flight football and one of which is a complete waste of time and leave this seasons top scoring english center forward at home?

We make the same mistakes EVERY BLOODY TIME we dont take Johnson because he's "not ready" we dont take Beattie because he has a bad friendly we dont take smith who CAN hold a ball up (last tournament) because he doesnt score enough goals we dont take Bent because.........? he didnt score in our last friendly, and the Chalrton side he is playing in havent provided him with a single goal scoring opertunity in 3 months or whatever.

We go to tournaments with 2 proven goal scorers, something happens and we are left with the same old problem our Plan B involves putting on players who are neither a goal threat or capable of setting up goals for anyone else.

He's not really a scoring player tho is he, he's the kinda player we need to put on with 20-30 mins left so he can change the game, like the Argentina game. I think Sven should have taken Bent or Defoe to start personally.

Do agree with some points, i really dont think campbell should be going; jason roberts gave him a right hiding yesterday. Jenas and Hargreaves shouldnt go, only 1 of the two. I think Sven wants hargreaves cos he plays in germany. So really jenas should be dropped for defoe/Bent imo to give a bit more balance. Otherwise it is an exciting squad.

shame SWP moved to a team he cant get in every week :( i like players who run at defence like he does.

glad downing was included for above reason

lets just hope lampard and gerrard can knock some goals in :D

What he brings ot the team far and away outweigs the goals he chips in.

as stated he has no premiership experience (but then neither does ronaldo lol), andf wenger said he would pick him for england, because he is worth the risk.

if thats true why didnt he pick him for arsenal? he had ample opportunity to do so, in games aruagbly less important than the world cup tournment tbh....

where is Defoe?!!?!
 
Sven saw walcott in training and somehow made such a big impression on him that he was included in the WC squad. He sees the likes of what Defoe and Bent can do week in week out and still doesn’t put them in! Amazing.
