Proxy Server on a mac

Ok I'm having problems getting on website at my girlfreinds house who is on AOL. Its defo AOL that is blocking the site at there end as I have tried different computers etc. A friend mentioned a proxy server but I know nothing about them or how to set them up on my Macbook pro.

Any ideas how this would be done etc

How often do you need to access said website? Will you be sending potentially sensitive data to it? If the answers are "not very often" and "no" then using an open web proxy would probably be much easier than hosting one yourself.
