Just wondering... Does anybody still make (decent, non-entry-level) keyboards and mice that use a PS/2 connector? I'd just rather use my motherboard's PS/2 connectors than tie up a USB port (or two) unnecessarily.

For the effort of finding a PS2 keyboard you could get a USB hub.

You can get those PS2 to USB adaptors for KB and mouse but I'm not sure how well they work

+1 for that. Get a powered usb hub, most of them have at least 4 ports, freeing up 1 port at the back of PC and giving u 2 more freeones.
I have had a PS2/USB adapter and the mouse and keyboard showed no difference from when plugged into USB. So my one worked fine

many logitech keyboards and mice come with a usb to PS2 adapter and definately work,
aftermarket adapters will work if the mouse/keyboard parts are ps2 compatible
