Is there any advantage using PS/2 to connect keyboard (purple) & mouse (green) over USB, apart from freeing up USB ports? Just sow my Logitech Keyboard QSG & its says for desktop PCs use PS/2 wondering why and what are the benfits.

as far as i know, usb should be faster aswell as you can increase the speed of you usb mouse/keyboard with a certain application
But, doesn't it consume more resources, power, etc?

Switched both my keyboard and mouse to PS/2. Played HL-2 for about and hour and performance seems ok, somewhat even better then when using USB.

true but it all depends powerful your system is, most computers these days you should see an improvement with USB but its also personal preference and whether you need the USB slots

Unless you have the reflexes of an Agent then I doubt that you would notice any performance or speed difference between using PS/2 and USB...

Does any one remember when ppl were encouraged to use the ethernet port on their ntl modems as opposed to usb if i'm not wrong, for the same reason i gave earlier.

But, there must be a reason why motherboard manufactures still include PS/2 ports despite most keyboards & mice coming as usb.

With PS/2 can you not only press about 4 keys at the same time, and USB keyboards you can use as many as you want?

Can't really see a situation where I would be pressing more than four keys at the same time :|

Except maybe if I am bashing my keyboard with my head when a) PC is getting the better of me or b) something wont die

'& i'm busy trying that :o '

Apart from the usual 3-key combination like CTRL-ALT-DEL, which combi can take up FOUR (4) KEYS?

on ps/2 keyboards it's annoying because you can't press up, left and space bar all at once, it just won't turn left, but it will when you press the right arrow key instead...hmm.
