PS 3 connection

My daughter has just 1 HD connection slot on her TV which she uses for a Sky HD box. She now wants to connect her PS 3 through the TV. I can't see why she doesn't just unplug the Sky HD connector and insert the PS 3 HD connector but she would like both to be connected if she can.

It should be possible (I'm hoping) to connect her PS 3 to the TV at the same time as her Sky box but I've tried the three (sound and Av) jack plugs and it doesn't seem to make any connection. I don't know if the Sky box is overriding the PS 3.

Is there some way I could connect the HD cables from the Sky box and the PS 3 into a single HD connector?

Or is there any alternative?

Thanks for your consideration and any advice offered.

Hello

How about a HDMI Splitter? It will let you plug two HDMI cables into it and you can switch between the two?

You could always use component cables for the PS3. They're quite like your usual composite red white yellow cables but with a few extra they carry a HD signal upto 1080p (Depending on the tv).

I used to use a HDMI switch with an Xbox 360 and a PS3. It worked fine but when I was reading reviews etc of different leads/boxes, the one comment I kept seeing on various ones was that it won't work properly with a Sky HD box.

If you go for a HDMI box-type splitter rather than a switch, you will need 3 HDMI leads so factor that into the price.

This is something that always crops up in Xbox threads because older Xbox 360s didn't have HDMI. The general response seems to be although 1080p is possible using component, most TVs only support upto 720p with that connection. I know my last TV was. Not sure about my new one:p

An HDMI switch is what you are after, not a splitter. A splitter takes one HDMI output and sends it to two different receivers. A switch allows multiple inputs into one receiver.
