Hello,

Just connected my PS3 to my new Samsung Syncmaster 2693hm (26"). I put my PC on standby, (or turned it off), so that I could use detect the PS3 VIA the HDMI cable; it worked fine - audio as well. However, Is there any way you can leave the pc "on", and adjust the monitor settings etc without having to turn the pc off (my pc was doing an update and didn't want to turn it off at this time, but other would have done).

Specs: Windows Vista 64/XPpro dual boot "GTX8800x2 SLI" PS3 connected to Samsung Monitor With HDMI, Audio comes form Monitor speakers.

EDIT: I thought I was on a "power saving" misssion, until I saw this chart:eek:

TIA

Your PC probably uses <150w when not doing anything intensive, just put it on Sleep or Hibernate.

Why would your PC being on make any difference to being able to change your monitor settings?

1080p HDMI switchers are INCREDIBLY expensive. If you want an affordable then youll suffer with 720p or 1080i
Nevermind they seem to have become quite cheap lately

I have a joytech 1080p HDMI switcher (3 to 1), a whole £15 and came with remote control..

My PC Monitor has 1 HDMI in, and I share(d) my PC/360 and PS3 with it.. all worked fine at 1080p and 1900*1200...

yeah demon i looked at the prices a few months back and they were all £100+ with the only cheap one being made in china that hadnt even left the production line. Looks like its a totally different story now...

Thanks. Will stick to the hibernation option.

The PC in the chart is a CPU: Intel Core 2 X6800
Video Card: Foxconn GeForce 7950GT
Motherboard: Intel DX975XBX
Audio: Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty
Memory: 4GB DDR2 6400

Still, the PS3 uses a lot more than i thought

you mean samsung monitors dont have an input select option?

I've got my PS3 plugged into the Dell but I have a 2nd monitor sitting next to that so I can browse and chat while I'm playing games if I want a little break.
