I have a huge image, well, 1607 x 1195.

I need to reszie it to around 780 x 220 but keep the aspect ratio really.

How do I do this?

I've been doing the old hold shift in free transform but I can't get this how I want.

Click the chain icon, that'll keep it.

Edit: Constrain Proportions.

Unless you want to crop it dead to size?

doesnt keep the aspect ration really. It squashes it up

eh? You want to keep the ratio yet its too high? You can either resize by width, height or if you have an ideal width and height you need it to fit, create a new image that size and drag your image into it. You can then move it around to essentially crop it to fit.

You can't have it all ways though!

Your source image's aspect ratio and your desired image's aspect ratio are different; to maintain aspect ratio, you'd need 780x580, which is over double what you'd like to achieve.

There's no way of getting what you want if you need it to fit 780x220: you either crop the image, go squishy squishy or edit the image's composition. That's it.
