Firstly, I apologise because I remember reading a thread on this issue before. I think it was when FFIX was released on UK PSN store.

So, I have a UK PSN account. I want to buy the Heavy Rain DLC which is £3.19 so I would obviously buy a PSN card of 20 quid but to me, it is a waste of 17 quid due to region. I would use the other 17 quid to say, buy MGS and FFIX but I hear the PAL versions are really bad compared to the US store? I think the arguments were NTSC was obviously faster but lacked the graphics. PAL had the good graphics but the PSN titles had black bars at the top and bottom and looked weird.

So I would like need to go and buy 2 PSN cards. One for UK (cause Heavy Rain DLC is region locked) and one for a US account to get the better NTSC versions of say MGS and FFIX? I don't feel totally safe inputting credit card details onto PSN which does not help.

Thanks. Yes, I am complicated and I think about stuff way to much.

The easy option is not to buy the Heavy Rain DLC. :p It really isn't that spectacular tbh. I have it but don't take my word for it, look at the reviews. ;)

Well unless there are other games and such you may want to buy in the future on our European PSN, then the UK PSN card could still be worth it and it's not like the extra credit funds leftover will disappear.

But as above, I wouldn't really bother with the Heavy Rain DLC unless you REALLY want it more than the others. So it is down to your budget.

Yeah the stupid regional TV frequences can make things annoying, Europe with 50Hz PAL and the U.S with 60Hz NTSC. The old days when we was stuck without a choice until around post-Dreamcast era. Our 50Hz gives us a sharper image due to the black borders that squash it but at the cost of speed, whilst 60Hz because of the extra 10 frames it will give, makes the image faster and smoother (Just like TV programmes or News).

That's why a lot of people prefer the U.S PSN versions of the PSOne Classics, not to mention that they have a much better selection of games there.

Yeah I heard that about the DLC. I just really love the game. I suppose I want the feeling back of first playing it and not knowing what is going to happen while that epic soundtrack plays.

I would still like to know about the differences between PAL/NTSC on the store. Thanks.

Edit - Nm. Thanks Phat.

manic, as I said don't feel like sticking credit card on PSN. Unless there is a 5 quid card. :P

Ah, apologies, I missed this :)

Are there any other games you would consider downloading? Do you have Wipeout? Easy way to spend £17 if not, it's awesome :D

OK. More stuff that I really am reading too much into.

I just bought a 20 quid PSN card on ebay for Heavy Rain and possibly other stuff. Got the code now. On another site I read that like I can set up a US PSN account and use that UK code on the US store to buy the NTSC versions of say PS1 classics. Questions then.

1. Is that possible? If so, I guess the US PSN store would convert the 20 pounds to the relevant dollar amount? Like that would be about 31 dollars I assume.

2. Once I make my purchase of the US titles, is it possible to sign out of my US PSN account and download on my original UK account and play? Only reason being is I like everything to be all in one place really. Bit of an inconvenience otherwise.

1.) No idea, but I highly doubt it even works that way.

2.) Any games or demos that are downloaded to your PS3 system from the PSN Stores can be played across your other User accounts.

It's a simple case of logging out of the user account which had access to the U.S PSN Store and where you bought the games from, then just switch to and log into the other account which would be the one that has access to the UK PSN Store.

User accounts on the system and then the online PSN account are seperate.
