One other cool feature of the new 2.1 update is that you can now play PS1 games remotely on your PSP!!
This means if you have a PS1 game say Final Fantasy 7 in your PS3, you can now play that game remotely on your PSP as long you are near a WiFi hotspot ( cant change disks though lol). Now not tried it my self ( 1 week till i get my PSP), so can one of you nice PSP/PS3 owners try it out. Theres a lot of info about this on the US playstation site, http://boardsus.playstation.com/pla...read.id=166903&view=by_date_ascending&page=12

Also found this off some interest,
I'd like to add that you can use your PS Eye as a security camera using remote play. With the update today, you can also get sound too when using the remote play to view your home using the PS Eye and the video chat function of the PS3.

could be useful/ fun lol.

Grrrrr. You leave the PSP alone for a week and the battery totally discharges. Now i need an update which ill have to wait till its just to install. Grrr!

thats pretty smart, i just had a bash on medevil and that works fine over the wifi straight to the ps3. no idea how well its going to run over the internet lol. im gonna try some gt2

Different ones. If you can connect to the Internet via a wi-fi spot you can then connect to the PS3 and play whatever is in the drive (or that was the idea, so far you have a couple of odd titles and Lair) but now you can do it with any PSone game which makes it awesome.

Even more so that I found my FFVII and FFVIII discs LAST WEEK. Awesome.

Wow, but does that mean you have to leave the console on when you leave home? Sounds great thou except for multi disc games

How would FFVII work? Surely you will be buggered at the bit where you have to change CDs!! (and MGS)
Annoyingly I gave away my massive ps1 collection 2 years ago. Tekken 3 could be fun though. Tekken Force mode here I come!!!
Its a fantastic update all in all, i love streaming divx from a memory stick in the ps3 to the psp, and being able to remotely boot is a very handy thing as well.
I have not had a chance to try the divx stuff on 360 or ps3 yet!!! From what I read the 360 implementation requires you to be online for some stuff and also you cannot store your files on the actual 360 HDD. Is there similar restrictions on the ps3 implementation? (i.e. could I use it properly offline and actually store the files on the built in HDD?)

No files have required me to be online on either 360 or PS3 but you may be right maybe certain ones on 360 do require you to be online

Yes you can put the files on your actual HDD on PS3 (I knew that 250gb HDD would come in useful at some point :)) you can't on the 360 they all have to be streamed, though streaming on both 360 & PS3 is very easy to do and works very well.

Was doing this last night, but with a downloaded game, not disc one. The graphics were pretty poor, not sure if it drops the resolution or what. Might be better with disc based stuff?

I have not tested the ps1 games, as yet, but to all intents and purposes remote play gives you a VNC/Remote assistance style connection to your PS3 (all processing etc is done on the ps3). Once you are connected via the PS you can press the Start button and there is additional options for bandwidth and other stuff I can't remember. I have tried it for videos and it makes a difference, so imagine the same for PS1 games.
