In a certain highstreet video game shop on saturday and saw this
Xploder PS2 HD upscaler for sale.

http://www.xploder.net/ps2/products/148/Xploder-HDTV-Player.htm

Looked at a couple of reviews mostly mixed ie some games look nice and sharp some looked "photoshopped", just wondered if anyone has tried one. There is also a VGA adaptor available for it. Just thought it would be something to try on HDTV before i go PS3 (especially if there is PS2 compatability issues).

GT4 runs sweet using this on my toshiba 32wlt66.A compatability list is on the xploder website.I only own a handfull of ps2 titles but ridge racer 5 now has a new lease of life :) Looks really nice at 720p
When you select 1080i mode though it drastically reduces the picture size to a small box in the middle of the screen :(

Last time I heard of it, it was crushing in pictures and making the aspect ratio aweful.

It's going to help the framerate at all. By the looks of it you probberly have to swap out the disc everytime you want to play a game.

You'll also need to use component or something that carries that kind of resolution. You're placing pixels there that wern't origially intended to be be there.

Not my glass of water, I must say.

-edit- sorry didn't know it came with the correct cables.
