ps2 must-have games

I never had a ps2 but I have a ps3 (updated to v1.8) and I'm basically after afew ps2 titles which would be considered as 'classics'. I think most people out there had a ps2 so which games would you recommend are definately worth buying, and also will they work on the ps3?

So far, I can think off...

Gran Turismo 4 (and maybe even 3)
Pro Evo 6
Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid 2 (and I think there was a 3?)
...that's all that comes to mind at the moment. What others are there?

Since there aren't many good ps3 titles out there atm, I think I should go for afew ps2 games that I missed out on :)
 
Devil May Cry 1 and 3 - 2 was good, but not great imo
God of War and GoW 2 - Awesome game
FF10 - Not one of the best FFs but if you're a fan you should enjoy it
Tony Hawks 3
GTA Vice City
Burnout 3
Tekken Tag
SSX
Guitar Hero (if the controllers work with the PS3, if not whatever one that is out for PS3)
 
Another vote for god of war 1 and 2, I think 2 is better myself.
GT4, the AI not the best and no damage but theres just something about trying to collect all 700 odd cars and trying to do the 24 hr races yourself.
GTA Vice City/San andreas, Look at the thread about these 2 games and decide for yourself.
FF10,FF12 I think both are great 10 has a better story but i enjoyed 12 more and the new combat system and gambits are great.
Bully or Canis Canem Edit a kind of GTA based in school sort off great fun.
 
Oh yes, Burnout Revenge :)

It's the only game I kept when I sold my PS2, to play on my PS3 until Burnout Paradise arrives.

Lies, I also kept Midway Arcade Treasures lol

P.S. Though I have to say, it doesn't look so good now, as I remember it on the PS2 and my old CRT. Still fast, and brilliant fun though.

Tekken Tag, Tekken 4, Shadow of the Collosus, GOW1 &2, Devil May Cry, Onimusha (first one), Street fighter 2 alpha 3 and any other 2d streetfighter games.

i think the one game everyone should experience if they get a ps2 is:
shadow of the colossus

one seriously amazing game.
